    Good bye OB shite.
He will no doubt score against us, and once again a forward player has to leave to actually show quality and results. . . . . . . both of which were absent while playing for us. . . I hope Seattle can do something with him.

Good luck Shitecaps, cant wait to crush your dreams at BMO

    SAYS IT ALL:
Mista’s short tenure in Toronto was a fail of epic proportions, and arguably will go down as the worst Designated Player signing in MLS history

I have no problems with any of the players we moved yesterday, but my sense of impending doom that earl and Jimmy are going to be the gm team long term just keeps growing and growing.

So we're culling. I hope we're adding as soon as that last contract date Dec 31 rolls around.

I'm not sure that would be the end of the world (It would be Earl, Jimmy is way too unseasoned - is that even a word?). If, and it's a big if, they get a proper coach in place.

It probably wouldn't be the end of the world no, but if it all comes down to "we're going with more of the same, this time we'll get it right though, trust us" It'll be a big let down, after 4 years, not sure I can dredge up more faith in the same old same old.

    SSG: Cutipie......

5 Players Released: I dont disagree with the 5 players released, but why did the team hold onto Gala and not play him even though he's been with the team for four years and we dont have anyone other than Joseph to play left midfielder. Ibrahim hasnt played much either and hes still with the team, WTF? There's plenty of roster space to fill why cut someone that might have some value, specially on the left wing.

You could stick LeBrocca there but I dont think I like to see him in that position.

On principle, it might cost me my team. I don't know if I could support a team that made such gratuitously corporate, stupid move.

Jimmy's a hell of a lot more seasoned than Earl. Jimmy's been playing professional football, and in that world, for more than a decade.

Three years ago, Earl was the public relations flak -- Michelle's position -- for DC United.

Can people please stop associating charm with talent. He has zero experience as a GM and therefore it would be a rankly stupid move.

jloome - what if they keep status quo and next year TFC starting contending? On prinicpal would you still jump ship...

Hiring a name just for the sake ofd hiring a name is not the way to go either. I know for a fact that Jurgen admitted he never watch an MLS game in his life how the hell is he going to help find a coach let alone a competent GM????

It really seems to be a Toronto thing, we pick favourites based on personality not skill. Maybe it's because we're so used to losing we expect we always will and we'd just prefer to do it with guys we like. I used t think it was a Leafs thing, but we saw Dan Gargan elevated to top player status and now we may see it with management, too.

Your facts are off. Klinsmann said he'd watched lots of MLS, but didn't go to LIVE games in L.A. And he's been a contributing consultant to the L.A. Galaxy for two years.

How is Jurgen Klinsmann, former German national coach, former Bayern Munich coach and former world-class player, going to help us? I'm not even going to argue that; it's basely irrational.

And yes, on principle I would still jump ship. People should earn things in life, not schmooze their way into them. That's a huge component of herd mentality and a contributing factor to major problems on almost every sociological level.

If he's genuinely brilliant, make him an assistant GM and get a veteran to counsel him and train him up. But after 24 years of interviewing people, I'll be somewhat shocked if he is.

That's really the issue, isn't it. For the first four years of this team's existence they left it in the hands of someone with really no experience running a team and didn't have anyone around to counsel him and train him, except the MLSE execs, who seem to think they can do that themselves. If they keep the management staff they have now without bringing in anyone with his own track record then it looks like they want someone they can easily control. They didn't even give Klinsmann a contract through one whole season.

Small correction here. Cochrane left the CSA around 2006 to join TFC.

But your point still stands. Cochrane was the Media Relations guy at the CSA and he was the PR person at DCU.

Even TFC hired him as the Team Manager. Does anyone even really know what that means? That doesn't sound like the kind of position that gave him experience in player personnel decisions. It sounds more like the kind of job that involves booking flights and hotel rooms and make sure things run smoothly. Was Cochrane helping Mo Johnston out? We don't know.

But all of a sudden Cochrane has been hoisted up to this position of power. With no experience at the position. That is worrying. And even more worrying is the number of people who support him, especially when we have an FO that actually often takes its cues from the way the wind is blowing.

    Getting On With The Job

    http://viewfromthesouthstands.com/20...-with-the-job/

Thoughts on the flurry of moves Toronto FC has made in the past day and why Earl Cochrane is to be commended for getting on with the job of General Manager.

Comments are always welcome and appreciated.

Sorry, but none of these points are based on actual evidence either.

What exact reasoning are you using to just assume that Klinsmann can't help us?

And why are you just assuming Earl wouldn't be able to do the job just because he has no experience in that particular position? He's worked in the N. American soccer world for years . . . everyone has to start somewhere, right? You might even be able to argue he's better qualified than most because of his experience with Canadian soccer.
