Thanks Mikey. It's a good read.
Nice to hear a clear, unbiased viewpoint from someone who knows the game from all levels.

Me too. I imagine TFC will as well, seeing the potential big transfer fee as more of an asset than whatever player we'd get in return for trading him.

big decisions coming up for tfc.

do we keep on doing the same old same old and end up like Chivas, or does scrooge send a boy to buy the biggest goose in the shop window, and we end up like seattle?

Does Nigel have his coaching license? Or maybe he has interest in the GM job?

Frei is an MLS keeper. He can stop shots, but hasn't developed too much in other areas since we've been watching him. We shouldn't trade him, he could be MLS material for a long time.

No player gives you more in terms of effort. Barrett will run all day, has great tenacity and scores important goals. Unfortunately he just doesn't score enough. His goals per game ratio simply doesn't merit the pay raise due in 2011.
    this.

I would keep Frei, Barrett and JDG; but release Conway. The market for keepers is way too saturated to have three keepers on the roster and to pay a backup $70K (no matter how well he wastes time )

Barrett has his flaws but his benefits are pretty outstanding and even if he's a bench player for a better striker, I would prefer that to losing him.

JDG is the enigma and yes he's overpaid, but he's got benefits that are outstanding as well. More time with a stable XI would improve his service and lower his turnover ratio.

Other than the three above, the players Nigel Reed would get rid of are: Gala, Garcia, Hscanovics, Ibrahim, Mista, Nane, Peterson, Saric, Usanov and OBW. I can't disagree with any of those.

Would you pay $200k for a bench player? This is the issue, nobody is denying Barrett is a useful player on the squad, but the price man.

Frei is a good keeper, however like Nigel said Conway is a very experienced keeper and Kocic is still here.

we should use Frei as trade bait and get a couple of solid players...Conway has proven in the CCL matches that he is still a quality keeper that can develop Kocic...in the mean time we get a good striker and winger for Frei...

hopefully mlse will not be counting on transfer monies from europe...

Is it $200K? I thought he was getting paid ~$100...

looked it up and apparently he's getting $205 and in a contract year. That does change everything.

Don't like that he got that deal though there were much worse one given out by Mo. Barrett is a bargin compared to Mista.

I'm really excited about Lindsay. I know we haven't seen much of him but he could be the best winger that we've ever had. His crossing and positioning seems to be big pluses in his game. I hope whoever is in charge next realizes this.

I know some people care a lot about the ticket prices...I care less than most TFC supporters.

What I do care about is having a strong front office. While Cochrane and Brennan might not be the right advisors for personnel selection, they're certainly better than having no advisors for the GM and Coach in that matter..

Compared to what Vancouver has in their front office, this is just sad.
MLS is a tough, physical league, that emphasizes speed, and features plastic fields, grueling travel, extreme weather, and incompetent refs. - NK Toronto
