and someone should tell both the journo and jdg we don't expect him to score a goal very often, we just want him to be stronger, win more tackles and stop passing balls to the opposition

IF we win tonight. or hell.. even lose but the lads take the field with vigor and determination. . . the back room distraction will surely be blames.

whatever teh motivation, I hope that this upheavel translates something postive onto the field. Seeing the list of mis step trades (ruiz, Vitti) in print was shocking. In this league you are only 2-3 trades away from success.. . . lets hope TFC can graba slice of that.

This post brought me back down.

Seriously though, I think we gotta look at this as a definite positive. My hope now is that the revolving door will be stopped for at least a handful of seasons and this club can concentrate on winning rather than worrying about everything behind-the-scenes. Everything about the team feels different now, though I admit I share some doubts just as George does.

i just watched some of the CCL videos from last night. the Crew had just over 5000 at the game.

if we ever got 5000 people to any game, people would go nuts

An excellent commentary on the Score's Footy blog:

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year Toronto FC

Less than 72 hours after the worst day in Toronto FC’s history the sun rose on the city this Tuesday morning and it became one of the best days in the short history of this club.
Director of Soccer Operations Mo Johnston and head coach Preki are gone and a new slate begins at the offices at BMO Field with interim coach Nick Dasovic and interim Director of Soccer Operations Earl Cochrane taking over.
It’s my feeling that this is a wonderful day for the club.

    This article is spot on...

Preki came into the club like a typhoon and ruled with an iron fist that the players disliked. Some players have openly told me that they had never run more in training under any manager than they did under Preki and had never concentrated less on the ball. This is why Preki is no longer at the club. The players won that battle.

Tactically, I thought he did what he could with the ‘talent’ he was given. There is no doubt that Johnston failed the club in his cap management and in the transfer market. Preki had very little to work with and the result looks like a 4th successive season without a playoff berth.

That is also what brings you to Christmas Day in Toronto FC land, Tuesday September 14th. Saturday’s pathetic loss at home to DC United presented MLSE a nightmare scenario in front of their very own eyes and it happened a lot sooner than they expected.
    • No creativity from the team
    • A loss at home to the worst team in the league
    • A lot of empty seats
    • No atmosphere from the true supporters of the club (and that is key)
    • And a likely final nail in their playoff hopes

like it or not, player power trumps the coach every time. You simply cannot fire the whole team, but you can fire the coach/GM.

Plus, these days, most top players are earning more than their boss (tho likely few in the MLS)...it's a a crazy world we live in

Yup, article goes on about the lack of talent and they sure do lack talent, so he wanted a team that could run a lot and work hard. I guess the players didnt like that.

Lets go back to the country club that cost us playoffs last season in NY. Good stuff. I am looking forward to easy platitudes about effort and oranges at half.

Hopefully they launch some of these idiots who didnt want to work out. Professionals bitching about working on in training. Idiots.

The first day of the 'Post Mo Era' to me means we've torn down a bad building...

The day we hire someone who can do the job properly will be like pouring the foundation...

The point being - we have a long way to go...

It is the right step in building success...

But be serious, a complete turn won't happen overnight...

But like buying a brand new house, stay positive as the building process happens - supporters the workers on site - and be excited for the final product...

I understand your sentiment, but I just don't see any evidence to support the notion that the players weren't willing to put in the work ethic that Preki demanded. Despite the overall disappointment of this season, I think it has been fairly evident that this year's squad was the hardest working club in TFC's short history. The first time I noticed any sense of lethargy from the players was against DCU and I attribute that to the drama that was going on behind the scenes between Preki and Dasovic.

I have no insider information whatsoever but I am willing to accept that the player allegations regarding a focus on vigorous training and a lack of tactical instruction in practice are true. The results on the pitch support the allegations. TFC was in better shape this year, conceded fewer goals against, demonstrated a tremendous work ethic, but severely lacked creativity in the offensive third of the pitch.

Default Paul James makes a good point

When I saw that Bryce Alderson (not Alderton) signed with the Shitecaps I thought, WTF. A star Ontario youth player should be a slam dunk TFC Academy player, at least. Lads, more than current results and prospects for next year I'm more than a little worried about the state of TFC's base and organization. The Academy is a given, and mandated by MLS, but we should have at least as good a development system as Vancouver and currently we don't (and I'm not just saying this because I'm a Spurs supporter and they have a Spurs ex-CEO in charge).

To me the next GM has to have a broad development plan, first and foremost. I'm talking Ajax, West Ham, Bayern-style, right down to 7 year olds. There should be no question that TFC pulls in every Canadian star and we compete with a team built more on local development and less on Mistas etc. That's my opinion. If we win the MLS Cup in the next three years with almost all imports will you honestly care as much as if we compete year in year out with young Canadian talent and win the Cup in five or eight years?

Fuck me I'm depressed about this shite state of affairs. I don't see nearly enough vision re:development coming from ML$E.

I do follow CSL and attend a lot of games, Academy's included. No disrespect to the Academy or what Bent's accomplished. They are doing great. I want them to have more support and there just needs to be a lot more going on than a Senior and Junior Academy program -- investment in residency programs and a plan for spreading the net even wider, as it seems Vancouver has done well. Anyway. I'm 100% behind TFC, I just want the best for Canadian soccer, too, is all.

Medhi Ballouchy traded to NY for Mac Kandji to Colorado

    http://www.goal.com/en-us/news/1110/...york-red-bulls

Possibly a very significant trade. NY has been looking for a creative midfielder since the beginning of season, and Ballouchy, while inconsistent, has the tools to provide service to Henry and Angel. Heck, anyone playing with Angel and Henry should look good. NY midfield looks ridiculous with Lindpere, Ballouchy, Marquez and Richards.

Kandji, aka MLS version of Didier Drogba minus the finish. Colorado already has strong striking team of Casey and Cummings, and Kandji provides the 3rd option off the bench. I also think if Colorado isn't willing to shell out to give Casey a raise at the end of the season, Kandji might be asked to fill in the role Casey had.

Both teams should be set to make a run in the playoffs
“Years have gone by and I’ve finally learned to accept myself for who I am: a beggar for good football.

I go about the world, hand outstretched, and in the stadiums I plead: ‘A pretty move, for the love of God.’

And when good football happens, I give thanks for the miracle and I don’t give a damn which team or country performs it.”

    -Eduardo Galeano
