Default Would the Red Patch Boys do this?

I recently saw this article and video: http://www.thecheapseats.ca/2010/09/...-mls-fans.html

and wonderd if TFC fans would do that. IMO personal life issues like that should be left off limits, but some may say everything is fair game.

    What do you think?

IMO anything an opposing player/coach does that makes the news is fair game for us to use.

Fans always take the piss out of players/coaches by referencing aspects of their personal lives. I wish we would come up with more of these impromptu type chants against opposition players. Philly fans are great at it of course.

Meh...I say it's fine. Individuals with a stake or participation in the match are fair game, their families are not however.

When you commit a DUI you are fair game. If someone's son died of AIDS for example that's off color and a no-no. If you are stupid enough to do it, we are smart enough to sing about it.

Yes, there are obviously limits. But what happened to Vermes is fair game in my opinion.

I don't think we do nearly enough of that sort of thing. It's fair game, and piss-taking is a time-honoured tradition in the stands.

My opinion is that while you should take every opportunity to criticize the player in some way, you gotta leave his family out of it. I think that Philly fan's chant is perfectly acceptable, but agree that there is a line we shouldn't cross as well.

    Addiction is a sickness, eh?

I'd rather sing for my club or taunt the other players rather than a coach who a.) can't hear you and b.) doesn't care. Having said that, it's not offensive so who cares.

On a related note, Sons of Ben are weak.

My Son has a Millwall scarf... it says "No one Likes us" with the lions at both ends.

Now, all the kids at Junior Kindergarten move out of his way... and also give him first dibs at all the crayons.

    Out of respect.

I'd agree that if you get int he news for being an idiot or breaking the law then you're fair game. I'd also agree that there's a limit and wives, families etc should be left out of the picture - ESPECIALLY people's kids. The one exception to the wives thing is if your wife is a media whore, like posh spice, then she also deserves everything she gets. But your ordinary run of the mill family stuff, should stay off limits.

Put it this way, if you get a DUI and people at the office give you a bit of a ribbing, then you have to take it in good humour. But if people start making jokes about your wife, then you're going to be pissed off and rightly so. There's a line you can't cross.

Also, if they really did keep that going full strength for 100 verses, then kudos. That takes some doing!

i was just going to say:

    yes.
    yes.
    and
    hell yes.

north american sports are too tame sometimes. im not talking about spewing venom, or wishing death upon players, but there's nothing wrong with lightly kicking someone when they're down.

    I sure hope they would.

There's a difference between taunting someone for a personal crisis such as a divorce or an illness ... and being arrested for a serious crime.

it's more of a personal call than a RPB group thing.

If the chant was funny, accurate, and had a good tune... then sure I'd sing it.
If it was over the line, too crass, and not catching on... then don't force it.

    I seem to remember singing 'Sar-lie Jo-Seph... How-was Re-Hab?'
