Good morning D. Man, what time do you wake up to get this stuff up for us? Thanks!

Here is an interesting article from Sports Illustrated about how things have changed in MLS with regards to the playoff picture. When we first entered the league, there were more teams that made the playoffs than didn't. Now, we are on route to a system where more teams miss the playoffs than make it. I think that's good and it will weed out the good teams from the ones that depend on squeaking in like Mo seems determined to do.

Playoff intensity in August? That's a welcome development for MLS Story Highlights

Ljungberg on why he left the Sounders. They wouldn't extend the poor guy's contract.

I love the bit where he claims to have passed up other opportunities last winter to stay with Seattle. Exactly what other opportunities does a player under contract have?

^ Ridiculous! He fully admits that he was told how contracts are negotiated in America and he still wanted to insist to negotiate the way he wanted? That's just petulant. He cashed in on a big contract and when other offers came along he wanted to have his cake and eat it too. Guess what my brother? You're in the US now, this isn't UEFA where players rule the roost.

Ok, so Preki denies Wheeler's assertion regarding his relationship with Mista. Now, that could be PR. But then Nana goes on It's Called Football and says the same thing... that Wheeler's suggestion was laughable. And Wheeler has yet to quote anyone on the record saying it was true. I'm calling bullshit on Wheeler and his "sources".

He took a mid-game substitution and turned it into a controversy.

I'm not saying that Wheeler had the story right, not at all, but...

If you think MLSE would allow a player or coach to air dirty laundry in the media, you're delusional...

In fact, the PR machine that is MLSE would be pushing them to deny, deny, deny, deny, and then again deny some more, the story...

Many a Leafs & a few Raptors have been 'suddenly traded' shortly after saying the wrong things in the media...

The big time guys can get away with it. Foot soldiers like Nana and a coach hanging on by a prayer couldn't...

Beleive half of what you read (from media and team), and even less of what you hear...

    I'm delusional? Thanks.

If you think Nana is a liar, then you're delusional. He said on the podcast it was laughable.
If you think that's "spin" then you're saying Nana is a liar, right? Or can you spin Nana's spin
Nana doesn't have to hide a thing. He can leave at the end of the year and make lots more than 40K in Europe.

If you would prefer to believe Wheeler over Young Nana, go ahead. Wheeler has done nothing to deserve anyone's trust. I think too many people *want* to believe Wheeler because his unsubstantiated comments fit their ideology. Of course, it's possible he could be incompetent. I'll go with the latter.
