I don't remember posting so many(12) articles in Today's news ever.

Win over Cruz Azul is bigger than 3 points, media is picking up and probably many casual football fans will eventualy show some interest in TFC too.

I disagree with Ben on this one.

Preki has shown himself to be able to masterly use the whole bench, including our backup GK, and still win games. That's the advantage of playing to a system.

For example, playing Arabe Unido, you could use quite a different lineup, and still win, because they are a very different team from Cruz Azul.

My only concern is DeRo, because it's hard to see us winning if he spends significant time on the bench.

Great interview with Mista. I really hope he continues to shine in Toronto and eventually signs a contract extension.

    My favorite quote:

"I had a big scare when I got here with my work permit and was stopped by customs in the airport. I was freaked a bit because I didn’t know where they were taking me, which ended up simply being to give me a permit. But since I knew nothing and was a little lost, I thought they were going to deport me back to Spain and, I thought I would have to explain myself to the club."

    LOL...

    This from Coed #1:

This 23-year-old bodacious brunette hails from Ohio, the state that’s produced more Playboy Playmates and NASA astronauts than any other state. It’s also really, really boring. Cincinnati is a sh*thole, Columbus is only good if you’re an Ohio State student and Cleveland is only cool some of the time. And the rest of the state? Well, unless hanging out in parking lots and getting drunk in fields is what you call a good time, you’re not going to like it.

Looks like Arabe Unido got two red cards in their game against RSL. Don't know if those are important players for them (Carrol and Santamaria) but having fewer players for selection isn't a bad thing for TFC.

and yet there's still people with this point of view:

I am deeply saddened by Toronto's failure to once again sell out a CONCACAF Champion's League game also the Toronto media's nearly zero coverage of it. The Jays get 7,000 fans and lead the sports news. The Argos draw 20,000 and receive deep coverage. TFC seems to be treated by most of the main stream media as some sort of novelty. Shame.

some people will never be pleased. I think the overall coverage has been very impressive.

Arabe Unido are a bunch of diving cheats, who play a violent and direct style.
Preki's enforcers will come in handy dealing with them, they just need to be careful about the diving.

I was watching CFTO news at 6:P.M. on Tuesday night just before leaving for the game and watched their sports report they mentioned the Jays, and even the Argos who did not have a game that night, but nothing on TFC's upcoming game later that evening versus Cruz Azul . You would think something would be mentioned but nothing. Yes the media attention has improved compared to years ago when it comes to soccer coverage by the main stream media, however, examples like the above shows that it still has to improve.

Yet the last two games with significantly lower gates have created probably the two best ones in terms of support. There's alot to be said about that.

    Yup...

My dad is a closet TFC fan... He won't admit it, he's an old Irish man who, when asked, says the league isn't great etc etc...

First thing he says to me yesterday, "...that was some win in the continent last night..." LOL

A long run in CONCACAF will grab the interest of the old Euro guard who understand continental competitions (or "Europe" as they usually refer to Champions League)...

Hopefully the casuals realize the importance to...

I do raise a flag for a foul to TFC on this though. As soon as we won the Canadian Championship, marketing, not for ticket sales, but for knowledge in the importance of CONCACAF, and what the competition is & can bring should have started...

You don't need to slam down "BUY A TICKET" people's throats, you need to inform them of the competition, what it means, and what it can lead to, because once sports fans (non-footy & casuals) learn/realize that, tickets WILL SELL with minimal 'ticket sales' marketing...

Nobody will buy a ticket to something they don't think is important because you say "buy a ticket", but teach them how important the matches are, that they are basically playoff games, and they'll sell - this city is starved for a Champion...

    Carts...

That Ryan Johnston article is a piece of garbage. Names aren't spelled correctly and facts are wrong (was not Conway's debut for TFC, Saric isn't oft-injured). WTF? Who proofreads this crap?

I think the overall coverage has been very impressive.
Coverage in the PRINT media has been pretty good. It's TV where coverage is seriously lacking. The game wasn't even televised on a regular channel that most people have. TV news and even sports-channel news didn't even talk about it. When I got home after the game I wanted to see the highlights so I watched Sportsnet Connected and all they talked about was baseball, golf, football and tennis. I went to bed after 20 minutes so if they mentioned the game at all it would be in the footnotes.

Good on RSL to speak up about the time wasting.
A bigger problem in the game than the diving.
Though diving is a means to that end too -- one of many.

TSN (and their corporate parent, CTV) treat their sports news shows as long infomercials for the games they carry.

It's actually funny to watch their forced, lame, late-in-the-program second-rate minor league coverage of a major event (say the Super Bowl) when they're not showing the games.

Solution is simple: support the networks that carry/support your team/sport, by watching their sports shows. That means Rogers, the Score, CBC and GolTV, screw everybody else.

some of the comments are hilarious... one guy says Arabe's motto is "UNITED WE FALL". haha.

I guess that's the strategy from them -- play ugly and hope to grab a road tie. Martin Saric is probably licking his chops right now though.

is there one non-soccer-specific station -- tv or radio? -- that actually offers MLS out-of-town scores?
