Encouraging news regarding Izaguirre. If MoJo can get this deal done it will finally add a new dimension to TFC's attack at a critical point of the season...

    Thumbs down

Celtic near signing of left-back Izaguirre

Honduras international Emilio Izaguirre is believed to be heading to Glasgow on Saturday night, ahead of a six-figure transfer to Celtic.

    http://sport.stv.tv/football/scottis...ack-izaguirre/

MLS side Toronto had also been optimistic of landing Izaguirre, who is known for his ability to get forward from left-back and can also play on the left of midfield. But the Canadian club, who were hoping to sign the Honduran as one of their Designated Players, look to have missed out.

Emilio Izaguirre, the Honduran left-back linked with a move to Rangers on Friday, is understood to be travelling to Glasgow on Saturday night. However, STV Sport believes the defender is instead bound for Celtic, with the Motagua player moving for a fee of just under Ģ580,000.

The article mentions that Pachuca had an offer on the table too. In the end it was between them, Toronto, and the altar-boy arse-rapers. Think I just became a Rangers fan -

another year of hastily put togeather squad half way through the year. This is garbage. If Mo is not gone & the roster final a month before kickoff next year. Im finished. If you all want to be a part of another mlse cash cow go for it.

come on Emilio, do you really not want to see the sun for the next few years?

Mo Edu always complains on twitter about the weather there.

If we would have had to tie up our last DP spot on him after this year then I'm happy we lost the bidding war.
    No more DP defenders!

Hmmm, let's see, if you were a young talented player that was offered a contract to play in Europe for a Champions League club, or play in MLS for the same kinda money on a DP contract, where would you go? MLS clubs dont stand much of a chance in this situation. Mo's sly, but come on, we're hardly a destination and a player with any ambition would want to play overseas.

So what do you think would have to be done to close the deal in the face of Celtic's interest?

    Money talks.

Of course, Mo has a lot less money to throw around since he signed 2 DPs now that have had how many goals so far?

mo...was never going to sign this guy for a 1 mil transfer fee,i know we cant compete with the big clubs.
how about looking in C A and S A for some young talent, its all about scouting and we(tfc) dont do it.

    MO = FAIL

I'm not sure I understand... you're saying if Izaguierre doesn't sign, it's solely because of money ("Money talks")?
how much money do you think he'd be worth?

CA and SA is hit and miss with regards to getting young talent.
It's not a goldmine, where you just tap it and suddenly you're the greatest team in MLS.

See DC United lately. Part of their downfall was dismantling a decent team and bringing in SA players who failed.

This is sooooo depressing - i was really hoping this signing would happen - it's reported on the Celtic boards that he's signed just waiting on the medical.

Do we ever have a plan 'B'?? The window closes today....
