Well... concessions will be hurting that night.
I guarantee it will be the lowest attended TFC match (actual attendance) in the history of TFC even though it will be a night match and night matches rock.
i think it really only matters to those that live in the inner security, as far as I know there was only one condominum that had to get registered; it might be useful for him to be able to pull it out as he is walking around the inside instead of police having to carefully examine his ID(s) every single time, I am not sure how it works. It's a great question to ask the SMO though.
if his building is not having a designated time to register for security clearance, he needs to go to the summit management office, and expect long lines!
i sold my tickets to this game because the game falls on opening bass weekend..then i find out the G20 is on. i almost feel bad for my friend i sold them too. i really hope it works out for him. i gave him a heads up. i dont understand why they wouldnt move the game to a later date...
Go Trains will be running to Union during the G20 summit all week. No delays unless protesters cause something on the train or rail. Be ready to share with alot of security in uniform and undercover.
^I can't speak to the business as usual part, but they should be running
please note I have updated my original post, any updates from now on will be seen as edits (unless information from my originial post gets changed).
thanks
Thanks for the info!!!
Frankie! Make sure they install the industrial size cow catchers with wood chipper attachments will ya??
It's bad enough they reduce the Garnder, and King, and Queensway, and almost every other North/South road around the core for construction but throw in the "Ride to save ....." EVERY BLOODY WEEKEND. For god sakes just take a few of them out with that big train set of yours !!!
Bones...
with the media being housed at the cne, what is that going to do to parking seeing as there is already limited parking because of the stands for the race?
i think i am staying home
I'm just glad the game is late so I can try to navigate around everything to make it. I don't trust the GO not being shut down for some dumb reason. ie Someone tying themselves to the tracks.

It would have been nice if TFC FO actually did some digging for some more info too for their fans instead of just putting out a message that the game is on. I am sure since they are a tenant on the Ex grounds they could get their hands on some more details on what issues we will see in and around the Direct Energy centre if any.
Unless you are driving in, the weekend should be pretty chill downtown....
No Club District.
No 905 shoppers.
No Jays.
Lot's of downtown worrywarts stuck in cottage country traffic.
I think Paul B's argument of, our fans are use to events being held on the EX grounds, is very week, G20 is a lot larger than the EX grounds.
GO won’t even tell us if trains are running to Union or Exhibition.

How are other people from the east planning to get to this game?
I was thinking of taking the 16:47 from Whitby which should arrive at the EX at 17:49, if this works with no delays I’ll just go to Shoeless Joe’s or a restaurant in Ontario Place. I’m also okay with stopping at Union at 17:40 and then walking to Ontario Place or BMO via Queens Quay. Surely if the train is delayed it won’t be delayed over an hour and forty minutes?!?
It's going to be a disaster. Not in the literal sense.
We'll walk together!
I've thought about walking to the game that day... the walk back home might be a bitch though.
Sure it could be; I've seen trains sitting for near an hour just because of a mechanical issue. If there is a terror alert, I'd think it could sit a long time, and then you'd be hoofing it.
In a new article in the Star, GO is saying that "it has now conceded that some service disruptions are inevitable", and "Give yourself extra time, there will be delays — it’s extremely likely".
Your likely safe with that amount of time ... but be prepared to ditch the GO at Danforth or Union, and take something else.
Personally, I normally get on at Danforth station; but I'll be taking the subway that day ... presumably the Bloor-Danforth will be the least impacted ... though I suppose if there is a repeat of what happened to the Tube during the G8 conference in UK in 2005, then I guess it would be down too - but then I'd expect the game to be cancelled. Driving from the East to the big parking lots at Warden station and then subway might be easiest.
A little bit more info on Traffic closures

im not going to this game
to much traffic and hassle
i'll be at the game! it's a saturday .. what else would I be doing?
Everyone keeps saying "bring snacks if you have to travel" that weekend. I wonder if there will be a little leeway allowed when it comes to what you're allowed to bring into the stadium?
Even if they did announce exceptions, security wouldn't get the memo. :P
My friend just asked me if it was smart walking around Toronto with a giant BMO on the front of my shirt. I never thought of that before... lol.
Might be a good game to dress casual for.
