    Default Today's News - Thursday April 29, 2010

I somehow managed to find my way into the TFC/MLS News Forum while avoiding the furry porn, LOL. I thought I'd try to help out by setting up the news thread on behalf of Denime...

Toronto FC earns physical victory over Impact

De Rosario paces Toronto past Montreal

Good start by TFC in defence of Voyageurs Cup

TFC makes Impact on Montreal, 2-0

    TFC is winnin' ugly

Impact coach Marc Dos Santos was not overly impressed with the work of the officials.
“One day, this competition will have three teams in the MLS, and I think refs are going to have more pride and be more courageous in their decisions,” he said.
It seemed like sour grapes since TFC got four yellow cards to Montreal’s two, although Dos Santos admitted he had not seen Brown’s Rocky imitation and would relent if it was a clear red card-worthy play.

In case you don't know it yet, a number of the Impact supporters spit on us marching into the ground last night from their perch atop section 104.

I wasn't impressed with the ref either... but I didn't feel like it went against MTL. One of the worst calls was against Hscanovics for a foul -- that Montreal guy jumped up over Raivis, yet it was a kick for Montreal. And he missed handballs on Montreal players all night.

Story on Cann from my local free paper:

    Kickin' it at home

    http://www.yorkregion.com/sports/art...kin-it-at-home

Its kind of a fluff piece about his career, but what do you expect from a paper writing a story about the local boy coming home.

The Cann story and playing in the snow for the MLS Cup... reminds me of this.

    Does MLS have orange footballs?

Since his signing, Adrian Cann has become my favourite Red. Others may be more talented, but Cann fills a need we desperately needed to be filled and is in dreamland about being here. A 29 year old grown man giggling like a schoolgirl in his first interview, thats passion that we can all believe in.

i also thought he was calling way too much for Montreal, and often changing his call based on their actions. One time he called a foul, but it wans't until their player started rolling around that he went to book De Guzman. other times montreal would fall over with no call, then they'd grab the ball, and at that point he'd whistle the foul against us. and the hscanovics one was indeed ridiculous.

    Bignewf No surprise there.

I am shocked there were no riots in Montreal after the Canadiens upset win over Washington last night.

At - or near - the front of the march someone was carrying a City of Montreal flag....was it defaced in anyway?

Didn't someone bring a big flag with a quebec "4 ever" or something licence plate on it and they painted 6-1 in black?

It was a flag from last year: USL4EVR, which doesn't apply since they are now USSFDII instead of USL! So now it reads 6-1 4 EVR
MLS is a tough, physical league, that emphasizes speed, and features plastic fields, grueling travel, extreme weather, and incompetent refs. - NK Toronto

I didn't see the flag that I'm talking about in the stadium, I just saw it near the front of the march. It *may* have only been pulled out when the march was near section 104 because that's the only time that I saw it. The City of Montreal flag looks like this:

I want to know if the flag that was at the front of the march (or pulled out in front of 104) was defaced..

I will admit it I was not expecting much from Cann based on his career, but he has been a pleasant surprise.

The fact that he has a passion for playing for us just makes it even sweeter.

He's not afraid of committing to a first time ball. Too many defenders wait for the bounce, by that time trouble surrounds them. Tell your young defenders "sooner than later". Deal with those high balls sooner, and they won't develop into problems later.

I agree, Cann has played much better than advertised. I think he has been our steadiest defender since he arrived...

Flag was definitiely rocking the south end during the game and was very noticeable from the west stands. Nice!
