Good piece there from the Globe.... couldn't agree anymore with the player ratings.

RED PATCH BOYS
mornin d
wow 2016 and things are looking up --- come on you reds lets go
Four games into the season and all I can say is: given the number of schoolboy mistakes this team is making game over game, it looks as though the team doesn't want to play for Preki. He doesn't have the dressing room.
I've no evidence, nor heard any rumour that might suggest this, it's just a hunch.
If they were deliberately tanking though, wouldn't you see zero effort? I keep seeing 20 or so minutes each game where we have the control and consistency throughout the squad to beat any team in the league.... for some reason, they can't keep it up for 90 minutes. Something TFC has had problems with since day 1.
The team definately looks very tense out there like there is a gun to their head if they screw up.
I don't like Preki's theory of "everyone plays to keep there spot" it seems to make everyone overplay their position on the field which is the reason for so many errors so far this season.
The players aren't tanking. On the contrary, I think they've played hard for Preki. TFC is offensively challenged right now and that is the main reason for our sub par record early in the season. I'm extremely content with the job Preki has done with our backline. I thought TFC was solid defensively yesterday for the better part of the match and two ridiculous foul calls by the ref ended up being the difference between a respectable draw and a disappointing loss. The problem is that without a legitimate scoring threat other than DeRo, despite a solid effort, the team will always be playing for the draw at best...
Preki is known for working players into the ground...it's possible they are starting out games too beaten up to hold up for 90 minutes.
Not laying it at the feet of the players or the coaches... but this is what I've getting at for the last year, since Dichio left.
· Lack of leadership was nonexistent in the way TFC reacted to adversity. No Keane, Gattuso, or Ince type player who can pull the team up by the boot straps.
I hope so...
Personally, no. Not every game. I don't think he's that kind of leader.
Kristian Jack’s exclusive interview with Ali Gerba
http://blogs.thescore.com/footyblog/...ith-ali-gerba/
Fuck.. can someone summarize for those of us at work with no video capabilities? LOL
quick summary - but I would recommend listening to the interview so you can follow KJ's questioning and the context of Gerba's answers
- was surprised he was released
-disagrees with the teams assertion he was not in shape, he feels he was in best shape he has been in in years
- no other explanation given for release
- in the time with Preki he did not spend any time on tactics, results speak for themselves with only 1 goal scored
- claims most players are not enjoying Preki's coaching style, practice regiment
- players that have left are leaving with bad impression of TFC because fo how they have been treated when released - lack or professionalism (No issue with MLSE or back office staff treated them .. directed at TFC management)
- thinks Mo had made many bad decisions
- believes organization deserves better than the people who are currently making decisions
- it's clear he does not like either Preki or Mo
- comments how he thought the fans were great and wanted to play for the fans here
- he has no problem with the club itself or TFC office staff, they always treated him well, his issue is with the team coaching/mngt.
- says if he had a chance to play for the team in the future he would if certain things happened
- what future holds? - he wanted to play at home in Toronto or Montreal - if not there he will try to secure a job in Europe
- still wants to play for Canada and Stephen Hart
MLS is a tough, physical league, that emphasizes speed, and features plastic fields, grueling travel, extreme weather, and incompetent refs. - NK Toronto
KJ/Gerba interview in its own thread now: http://www.redpatchboys.ca/forums/sh...490#post985490

Weee I know todays sunshine girl :]
For all those that think Preki is just a bad ass my way or the highway I have some alternate views. I just spent 3 hours in the air with the team travelling back from Denver and I was impressed with Preki's positive discussions. He bounced around talking with players. I sat behind Nana and across from Dero and Adrian. Preki spoke to both Nana and Adrian about some of the things to improve on and how to spot thing in the future but the key was HE WAS VERY POSITIVE. I'm sure he works his players hard but he was always a very hard working player himself. Hard work now will pay off later.
Bones...
These guys need time to gel. By the second half of the season we're gonna be a defensively sound, hard working team that nobody is going to have fun playing against.

This would be very interesting info for the Ali Gerba interview thread, at http://www.redpatchboys.ca/forums/sh...d.php?p=985490
