    Default Take a Note...

For future reference when MLSE announce they have to replace the grass.

"The Football Association is considering spending £90,000 to relay the Wembley pitch for the 11th time in three years in time for the FA Cup final on 15 May and England's friendly match against Mexico just over a week later."

    That's about $150,000.....and it's Wembley.

BMO is not Wembley, our grass will be in much better shape.

BMO Field has better airflow, enough sun,and state of the art heating system.

And I hear that beer helps grass grow... so the pitch should look really nice near the South End.

We also don't have a roof, one of the biggest problems for proper grass growth.

Our playing surface is mostly Bluegrass with a local mix (I think Wagner mentioned rye). I wouldn't worry about the pitch, it sounds like we've got the proper sod and a good system underneath to drain it.

I'd bet it cost much more the first time.

If/when they have to do it again at BMO it should cost much less, since they will only be replacing the grass, not everything under the grass.

I believe the field is entirely bluegrass.

Rye is used a lot on local sports fields.

But this field is state of the art.

It is seriously the best draining/heating system in MLS.
    and rivals NFL fields.

Wembly's natural grass is like our field turf was - WAY OVER USED...

You can't pat down, beat down, rake, rug, grab, tear, and beat the sh*t out of natural grass, or fake field turf shyte, and expect it to last...

    Carts...

BMO doesn't have a roof so the field gets plenty of sunlight.

They have a state of the art drainage system in case of heavy rain and water down by the lake

They have undersoil heating for when it's cold.

TFC are the only ones to use the surface so over use isn't an issue.

    /thread.

    The grass will be fine.

    I really don't think it's used much....but the roof doesn't help.

The initial cost of the base etc. was massive, but that's not a bad price to re-surface.

I think its more difficult (more expensive) to keep up a pitch in Canada than in England. That's not taking into consideration all the extra bells and whistles we had added on.

during the Pompey-Tottenham game, the british commentators say it was used a ton which is why its shit

ED: looks liek a couple of times a month, but some fo those events are really tough on the field, ie the big concerts
