If it become official, I hope thats good enough, publicity to attract the attention of a quality Centre back to want to play for at least half the season.

I can't imagine Garcia versus Rooney, I wouldn't want the team to be know for having ended Rooney's or Berbatov's career, please God no more nightmares,

From what I am hearing and reading, it's unlikely they will play at BMO. Rogers Centre against another top European team is more likely.

Even if United is coming to Toronto I doubt you'll see guys like Rooney on the pitch. Maybe some of the younger guys and the non-WC guys.

Well, i'm not so sure about that. As I said in the United thread, in 2004 they brought a full squad and that was after Euro 2004. I am pretty sure in the WC/Euro years the EPL starts a week or two later.

It would be nice to yell at that "Englishman," Hargreaves.
MLS is a tough, physical league, that emphasizes speed, and features plastic fields, grueling travel, extreme weather, and incompetent refs. - NK Toronto

I'm sure that SAF would want to give those guys a rest after the WC...

But I guess it depends on the timing of the tour. If it's just before the EPL season, then SAF might use the games to get the guys acclimatized to any new signings.

Also depends how deep into the WC some of the players go.

might be in the contract that the top players have to play a half, barring injury.

I am almost positive the tour will start July 25 or even July 27 with the All-Star game. That would be two weeks after the WC Final, and that barring injury, the entire squad will be here. The same thing happened in 2004. Euro 2004 ended July 4, NA tour began July 24. United brought a full squad that time.

as I said in the United thread, last year RM was played on an off-weekend, which they don't have this year, so there's a better chance it won't be versus TFC.

and if its 2 big clubs, I see them playing at Skydome.

they didn't have an off weekend last year either, they had to move the red bulls game.

I hope it's at the skydome against another big team, bmo full of man u fans for a tfc game would be awful.

I agree, BMO doesn't do them justice.

I really hope they come. If they do come, I have to pay attention for when tickets go on sale so I don't get stuck paying twice the price to get it from someone.

We do have August 12th until the 20th (inclusive) off. I'm not sure when the EPL season starts though.

I might be hallucinating, but I could have swore I just saw a news headline on the MLS website that said 'Man Utd to play All-Star game'. Its gone now though... but with all the tek problems they are having...

    EDIT: Here it is:

    http://www.mlssoccer.com/content/rep...-all-star-game

It just says they might be the team.

5 years ago i went to Chicago to see MUFC play Bayern Munich. Bayern showed up with their whole first team...I mean everyone...Ballack etc. MUFC showed up with their reserve team. I drove 8hrs to see that garbage. Adidas was even kind enough to hand out FREE Bayern jerseys...YES FREE to everyone who attended...I probably took 10 and gave them to friends and family. MUFC was in breach of their contract, so they flew in 6 1st team members for their next game in Boston or NYC 2 days later because the hosts threatened to sue MUFC. Don't forget, it's a WC year, so. most of the stars will not show up...

Nothing is signed yet and these things have a way of falling through, so says MLS/SUM.

    From Houston Chronicle:
    http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/...c/6935114.html

The article notes that Man City is a possible alternative, as they are expected to be touring in the US as well.

If Man City plays Utd as one of those four games... oh I have to sit down and catch my breath just thinking of it.

^ If that's the team that you support, who cares who they send? Of course I understand wanting to see Rooney etc. but if I were in your place I'd be happy to see..I dunno Darren Gibson or whoever...I wouldn't call that "garbage".

And hey, at least you got to see Bayern play!
