Oh, and there is a lot more advertising everywhere across the stadium.

All in all, I was very impressed. Now, if we could manage a winning team on the field....

I passed by there earlier today as well after a meeting. The stadium definitely has a much warmer feel to it. It doesn't look like a second rate facility anymore. Let's hope our squad isn't second rate...

I couldn't tell either if you mean the direction of grass cut. Maybe they haven't cut the grass yet (?)

The designs you see on the fields in other stadiums is done by rolling the grass in different directions; not by cutting it.

Can't they cut and roll at the sametime though? I thought they could?

Yeah that's typically how it's done... saves time going over everything twice.

Yes they are combined...from what i have seen in the photos is that they are using Toro mowers with Reels for cutting which run on rollers......same Mowers used for cutting fairways on golf courses.

Stadium looks great with the grass lines going north south. Would probably be better if the lines went east west but then you would be able to see the blatant offside miscalls.

Why the fuck did they roll grass like that.It is much easier for referees to call offside if grass is rolled from side line to side line.

I think it should also be east west simply to help the linesmen make those calls.

    That picture does look sweet!

And yeah, I was hoping that the lines would go the other direction,
Refs need all the help they can get in this league!

Unless it's part of TFC strategy,
Maybe they plan on playing so much long ball that they want more missed calls to go their way in order to create breakaway chances.

    Maybe it's better this way.
From what I've seen from this team, we could use a couple of breaks on the offiside calls as well (yes DeRo I'm talking to you).

I think cross-pitch lines are more common. That being said, I wonder if there is a particular reason north/south lines were used...

The stuff has barely been down a fortnight. It was installed east-west (and you can still see that on the pitch if you look closely at that picture).

I'm no grass expert (as anyone who has seen my front lawn can attest to) but I can imagine there was a reason that it was cut north-south the first time.

I know the MLS were responsible for the choice.

It would appear as though we have plaid.. It only looks North/South because of the angle

I wonder if they re-rolled it after they saw everyone here complaining.

edit: I mean, making valid points about offside calls.

I know it's just grass, but i think i'm going to cry. And as a soccer player, De Ro's comments about smelling it were hilarious...whether you love baseball, football or just a sign that summer is on the way, nothing beats the smell of fresh cut grass! Maybe poutine.
