Morning D!
Mornin' D.
Somehow I think even with us at 4th position in the allocation, we won't get the chance to snag Luis Gil's rights...
I doubt the union will want to play under the current CBA. All it does is give the ownership breathing room until the World Cup.
My guess is we will have a strike.
MLS is a tough, physical league, that emphasizes speed, and features plastic fields, grueling travel, extreme weather, and incompetent refs. - NK Toronto
Strike will kill MLS I don't think there can be any doubt about it
wow, big news day. Its a month earlier than I thought. Woot!
I think the owners have all the chips and probably don't want to start the season until after the World Cup is over in July.
The players don't want to play under the current contract and see the work stoppage and World Cup's popularity, as a tool for bargaining.
I'm sure as the league continues to get bigger, the World Cup will become a bigger distraction for the league, due to the season schedule.
You guys have to think of the positives out of all this. Mo' time for trades
Hey, how come this SSG don't get any love, shes gorgeous
The black bathing suits are outta this world.
Why do they have to mention the "boyfriend"? WHY???

hahaha man i'm nowhere as bad as that dude Moe. i've yet to seriously say "i want some snatch by the pool"
ouch.
Am I the only one who noticed how the Thread Date is a month behind? haha
If I was a player I would play under the current CBA until *after* the world cup. There's bound to be a uptake in interest amongst 11 year olds (and their families) after the World Cup, thus a spike in ticket sales. Get the owners drooling over the increased gates (except in Dallas, no one can save them...) and then strike... say... beginning of August.
Call me crazy (and many do...) but owners don't give a shit about a strike right now -- they haven't paid for anything and haven't anything to lose... every club owner and every player will lose the same thing right now. But get me in August when it looks like my club might be making a play off run and my gate receipts have gone up after a successful US campaign in the world cup (ie. quarter finals...). That's bargaining power.
This better get resolved soon. . like. . WTF?
get to work.

"Failure simply isn't an option at this stage. TFC pushed its chips to the middle of the table when it splurged on Bradley and Defoe and reinforced its bet by making savvy acquisitions elsewhere. This collection of players is capable of delivering on the promises made during the close season. There are no more excuses available for TFC. Only success will continue the process of atoning for the past and establishing a higher standard for the future." FOX Sports
According to Forbes, the value of the L.A. Galaxy in 2007 was $100-million while TFC came in at $44-million. Considering TFC owners Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment paid $10-million for the franchise, you begin to see that the owners' strategy focused as much on the actual brand value of the franchise as on short-term profits or losses. No issues here. In fact, it is healthy and indicates the market for professional soccer is there.
