What would a great Supporters Section be like? And how far away are TFC from having a great Supporters Section? What is needed to achieve this goal?

First of all, it has to be kept in context and relation here: We are unquestionably MLS’s most feverish supporting crowd on a game-in, game-out basis. But that doesn’t necessarily make us a great supporting section from the world’s perspective or definition.

In order for us to be “great” as you say, we need: (in no particular order of truth and not limited to)

    · Better unison during matches that clearly demonstrates our commitment to the art of chanting versus our more common drunken shriek
    · A better chant list that includes chants not already being sung around the league
    · Full cooperation from FO to respectfully do as we please (although understandably that could get out of control with all the inebriated folk)
    · A forever expanding supporters section that gets people on their feet and involved
    · And as JO suggests, we need more effing cowbell!

Cohesion between all the not necessarily affiliated alpha supporters, there's a few in every section.

Doesn't sound like Anfield yet though, that'll take a decade or two to happen.

It would take a group that is more dynamic to what is going on on the pitch. In the first couple of years, we've made great progress. But it's the little things like chanting a players name over and over when he's had a good match and to support our team...instead of nous chanton et vous allez-ing back and forth...and back and forth...and back and forth.

We could honestly chant "Red" over and over before kick off, and it would be so simple and so easy that the whole crowd would jump in and the intimidation levels would far exceed some of the other chants that I feel are focused on being witty and smart and end up far too complicated for anyone to really give a shit about.

To summarize, as supporters we need to simply watch and enjoy and support the match instead of trying to come up with extravagant dramatic new shit that gets lost in translation. The passion is definately there at BMO, as supporters we just need to go about harnesing it now.

    Bigger, Better, Banners!

I think I like to see this in a supporter's section:

It would be equal in size as the Dichio Thank You banner. Before arriving at BMO Field it should be blessed by the archbishop. This is the kind of thing that wins hearts and minds.

If you build them they will come

    I definitely agree with this.

I know I haven't been there for the last two years, but just from watching the games on my computer I can tell that the chants/songs seem to often be done at random times and not in conjunction with what's happening on the pitch. It wasn't like that in the first year -- the noise was pretty much all focussed on the in-game happenings, which, to me, makes it more relevant.

I'd love for things to get back to that.

People who actually chant, sing and get into it. Moving your mouth and barely uttering a sound doesn't count.

But I dream. So many nerds, so loud on these boards but quiet in the stands.
