what types of tfc merchandise would you guys like to see?
hey guys,
just been talking with some friends and we are having a few arguments over what types of things tfc should be producing. what do you guys think of: car flags (i know they were rogers promos), car decals, calendars or even athletic wear that isn't so traditional - maybe lululemon-esque (for the ladies)???
just add whatever u think would be a good idea

If you're "in the business" then you might want to do a thread search because this has been done at least once before, and Paul B was in on one of them (it was in connection with Centre Sports being redone) - there were some great ideas thrown out, as well as the usual hoopla of madness.
I've been wanting an official calendar to come out since the team started. I'd buy one every year for sure.

Maybe they should make all the stuff on MLS Shop available at BMO First...Ordering through the states is B.S....
i don't work for the team. i will bring some of these ideas to fruition. if you guys suggest some good ideas i will pitch them and if we and the brass see it as a good opportunity whether its community based, charity based, to maximize revenue or building partnerships/relationships or brand awareness/building, it will go through.
i feel that some of the items that are available now vs some of the ideas that could come to fruition are very different.
so... make the supporters happy, maximize opportunities and profits and give back to charity and community. it only makes sense no?
ok, let me ask this: if we were to pitch a calendar, would you guys be more interested in 12 sexy babes each wearing tfc merchandise (or little of it) or more of a cool looking calendar with 12 players from the team with really nice photo?
i am compelled to pitch both ideas - for two different markets. babes for the 18-40 male and the player calendar for everyone including this market

ok, but I think everyone on here (and this could be your primary market) would want to see a big emphasis on quality of product over profits being maximised. I'd much rather see a focussed line of quality stuff come out than a saturation of the market with countless items that are all cheap shite. i would not buy cheap shite, TFC branded or not. In fact, because TFC means so much to me I'd only want to buy decent products that did justice to the badge.
That said, Parky is right and I have definitely thought many times when I was out in shops that they should bring out more TFC gear. Nothing cheesy though.
Oh, and agree with the post above that mroe official merch should be made available without havign to buy through the US. I've gone to order stuff before and cancelled the order because the shipping was just ridiculous.

I'm starting to dislike you. what the fuck has cheap tarts wearing footie gear go to do with TFC? If people want virtually naked women they'll buy the Pirelli calendar or any number of other options.
What kind of message is that sending out to the market anyway? TFC will prostitute itself and sell smutty calendars instead of things that parents will buy their kids to hang on bedroom walls?
I don't want to sound too puritanical, but seriously dude, that's a fucking bad idea. The odd horn dog on here may be up for it but I doubt you'll find a serious market for it. And I also don't think you'll get more than ten seconds into your pitch with the TFC FO before they start looking at their watches.

what do you guys think about being able to order these products through centresports online? e-commerce?
as far as quality gear vs maximizing profits... well, i need to sell it to them to make it in their best interest. by mlse making money, it just makes it that much easier to sell. would the idea be to rip people off? no. but it's a business venture and every decision they make will have some form of return for them.
so if its money, data, community charity whatever... they need to get something back.
as far as gear goes, they would probably have to use adidas for almost any athletic gear. however, there may be ways into adidas for trying "new" items that they could almost test based on research and ideas that we could put forward. i.e. a new form fitted toque - made from a thinner material of fine quality (not an idea - just an example) we could approach tfc and or adidas to do something like this. conduct our market research and come back to them with prototypes and costs etc.
