Nigerian striker Ijeh on trial at Toronto FC

Nigerian striker Peter Ijeh is on trial at MLS side Toronto FC , having seen his contract expire at Norwegian side Viking.
32 year-old Ijeh has extensive experience in Scandanavia, having previously starred for Malmo and IFK Gothenberg. The 6ft front man is a handful for defences and is hoping to impress new coach Predrag Radosaljevic at Toronto FC .

Just watched today's post training interviews from Oakville. No hard questions asked but Dero said that most of the trialists are not with them now. His comment was "where did everyone go?"
Does anyone have any info on who went and who stayed?

Did the trial players travel back to Toronto last year or meet up with the team again in Charleston?

i wonder what influence the CBA has.. cuz guys are signing with teams... although the potential cap # would have a huge impact on a team's signings. and some agents may wait to see what restrictions are in place before signing.

Looks like all of the trialists have been dumped except for former DCU GK Milos Kocic.

Kayizzi is gone? Sounded like he was playing great, I was really hoping he'd be signed.

What a terrible preseason this has been.

I don't think he's gone...correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like they're just saying that the GK is sticking around, because he's an MLS player from last year, and so most likely has some news worth. Kayizzi may still be in camp, because I can't see Mo letting this squad remain bare. He's not the best GM in the world...but if he did that, it would be like he's deliberately sabotaging this team..

On this is Football, Mo said they want to sign Saric. Wouldn't be surprised if Kayizzi shows up again in Charleston.

Kocic is still under contract to the league, thus is the only player they could be sure they're keeping.

The other are probably all on "hold" until the CBA is resolved, which means if they get antsy or a better offer, we'll lose them.

Kayizi should be a priority, based on preseason. Dan Gargan certainly seems like he had enough utility and could cross the ball well enough, despite a defensive lapse that cost them a goal in one game.

Sounds like a reasonable interpretation of the events. At least I hope that is what's going on.

Also you have to remember their could be visa issues, until a player is actually signed to a MLS contract Toronto FC can not apply for a visa, so rather than take them back and fourth across the border where an issue could come up, it might be easier to leave them in the US until the Carolina Cup.

Remember The Man, The Legend, The Goal 5-12-07 and All That #9 Left On The Pitch, Thanks For The Memories !!!

who's the latvian left back that MoJo mentioned on the GolTV show tonight? He said the guy has been injured but is coming in. He also mentioned some CBs coming in during the next training period.

^ Was wondering the same thing, I looked on transfer market and the wiki for the Latvian National team, but no one jumped out as an obvious suspect. It also sounds like Mo's still carrying a torch for Dickov, hoping to sign him at the end of his short term deal with LUFC.

CBA or not - we are 3.5 weeks from the season opener and Nick Garcia is our starting centre back. If somebody had suggested that this would be the case after the New York fiasco in October, they would have been laughed off this message board.

I've been a pretty strong Mo supporter (at least stronger than most posters on here), but he's really lost my trust since the end of last season. He has done NOTHING to help this team.

Who ever said Garcia is our starting centre back?

I don't recall hearing Preki (or god forbid Mo) say anything about who our starters were.

We were trying out a lot of trialists in Florida, maybe Preki was giving Garcia a chance to win a spot? Not likely I guess, but one can hope.

Cross Dickov off the list, he signed with Leeds until the end of this season.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Kayizzi and Saric are both MF.

I was under the impression that we needed a CB and proven goal scorer.

I am really quite confused as to how Mo and his 5 year plan are still with TFC.

Kayizzi is a winger, which we lack. Saric I'm not so sure about, but he's definitely a midfielder.

Also, remember we picked up Nane Joseph who's a midfielder and Jacob Peterson who I believe is a mid/forward.

My understanding is that Mo is high on Saric as a playmaker, likely to pair with DeGuzman in midfield. EDIT: he can play wide right too, I'm told, so maybe he's in as an all around utility guy.

I wonder where DeRo fits into all of this, since central playmaker is his prefererred (and most effective) role. Guess he'll be a striker/wide forward again this year, so we can look forward to prolonged periods of ballhoggery with occasional breaks for spectacular goals.

I really have no idea what's going on with the team's roster management right now. Colour me confused.

jloome, you aren't the only one... I'm not even sure the F.O. even knows what's heads from tails right now...

I just found a site that has pretty good info on him and his previous stats. Much better than the wiki page anyway.

    Pāvels Mihadjuks http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pāvels_Mihadjuks

Obviously pure speculation but this name jumps out at me.

    - He's playing in Scotland
    - His contract is up at the end of the season
    - He's bounced around a lot in recent years
    - I know he's listed as a centreback but on the Dundee United website it says he's being used as defensive cover so perhaps he plays LB and CB.

It would make sense if that guy was the Latvian.

    That's why I highly doubt it's him.
