Maybe they meant it will be announced on Thursday July 15th
I thought so too. I also found these comments to be most interesting:
In August of 2007 he was on Deportivo’s short list and Lotina even described what he was seeing: “Mista is a great player, but not a typical striker. He gave best results playing as second striker, like Riki. Besides, I don’t think that he wants to leave Atlético. What we need is a striker up front, and Mista hasn’t played at this position”
Thanks for posting the link to that profile brad.
Since it seems most likely that Mista is one of the two player Mo mentioned, I wonder what position the other player will be? I'm guessing a winger. In the Mo Show, he said one of them would be a big name and the other not. I'm assuming Mista is the big name.
I'm still thinking the big name is Palermo.
Nobody knows who Mista is, it's been years since he was doing anything of note in La Liga.
I'll agree that Palermo is a bigger name than Mista, but in the relative terms of the MLS, Mista is a big name.
^ I'm not expecting it, but bringing out a new signing at half time would be pretty neat.
Mr. Mista attended the match today, 2 rows behind me in section 125... along with some friends and family of De Guzman. One guy with Mista looked like a player too... maybe just a buddy but could be someone from Deportivo, visiting De Guz.
Colin Samuel sat a couple rows in front of in year one just before they signed him (or maybe even just after). It was kind of neat, some people grabbed pictures with him.
im thinking its Mista and Ornoch, alot of proof suggests so
I haven't read this whole thread, so please disregard if this has been mentioned already but did anyone else notice that there was a Spanish flag flying above the South Stand at last night's game? Maybe it's been there for a while but last night was the first time I noticed.
A recent article about Vincent Kayizzi. An interesting tidbit:
http://www.monitor.co.ug/Sports/Socc.../-/14ofbgkz/-/I was told that I passed the trials at Toronto but some how things got messed up along the way.
Still think he might have worked out.
Former Manchester United Striker Febian Brandy Close To Toronto FC Move

Second report talking about Brandy. Also, TFC interested in Jennison Myrie-Williams (an exciting player that I'm decently familiar with).

Did he play at all during the last season?

not exactly a great goal scoring record
Here is Febian Brandy's interview with Sky Sports:
http://www.skysports.com/story/0,195...245571,00.htmlDo you have an preference as to the standard you are looking at, are you thinking 'I want to play at this or that level'?
I'd like to stay with a Premier League club, I had an invitation to Toronto in the MLS at the end of June and a few Championship clubs have expressed an interest so right now I'm open minded as to where my next challenge will be.
Would you be prepared to relocate - something you have to put up with now as you have to go where the contracts are?
I've travelled around all over the world with England, in the World Cup in the summer we were in Egypt for the U20s, and on loan with Swansea and Hereford so I'm used to relocating. I'd travel anywhere if it was the right move for my football.
Just a young guy at 21, but he doesn't have much of a scoring record. He's only 5'5"! Certainly not a target man. When you can't score goals, sometimes you have to take chances on players. It's better than standing pat. Perhaps the thinking is he could complement Mista? Maybe he's Plan B?
Cooper is a good example. His record before FC Dallas was shite... i mean, hardly played.
then he goes and destroys MLS... and since then has only 3 goals in 19 games. Strange eh?
Couple of young players with decent pedigrees linked with the club, not too bad.
Cooper's problem, apparently, is his arrogance. He's not starting over there, so most of those 19 appearances have been off the bench. He looked very dangerous and scored a few right away as a starter in Germany, then mouthed off repeatedly and was no longer in their plans.
He'll get the same treatment at Plymouth, Marriner or no, if he doesn't shut up.
At least with Cooper you can say he's still moderately young. Someone with Mista's type of profile greatly concerns me because that seems to be around the time a lot of guys take a major fall in form or stop giving a crap. Hoping TFC did their homework...
If the salary terms are what everyone has previously suggested (high thousands - 2M) then we could have got a lot more paper quality for the money we just spent.
