For real? I know he can put the ball in the net but he's 36. I guess it would be kind of a rent a player for the rest of the season or something like that.

No idea about the details but they've been negotiating for a while. Who knows what will come of this.

LLJJ, I hope you're right because he would be the perfect short term solution to our problems...

.5 goals per game in the Argentinian league last season, he'd tear up MLS, for sure.

    Sounds fine to me.

Fills a need and can still play. He's old but this is MLS.

    Lazlo...

Palermo has blondish hair and is with Argentina right now in South Africa.
That picture was taken recently, I think during TFC's open practice, which was the first weekend of the world cup.

The guy in the picture has dark brown hair. I'm pretty it isn't Palermo.
It might be Bosko Balaban (the guy in the picture).

    Doesn't look like Bosko Balaban

Here's a few more pics from the open practice.
Maybe someone might know who this guy is?

Miguel Mista - Free Transfer from Jules' old Club Deportivo La Coruna.

He was a shooting star that never really reached his potential

    ...great.

We've had such success with those in the past.

Five goals in the last five years is pretty terrible.

Playing in Europe should not equal DP money.

I hope he signs for a regular MLS contract and Palermo comes in as our second DP.

Might make an interesting mid-season DP signing. Here to help TFC make a playoff / CCL push. Thanks to Ciamps and DigiTFC! for the id.

DP could simply just be a way to structure salary under the cap. Might not be paying him that much...

Putting down a big financial bet on this guy would have mistake written all over it though. The schelotto, Blanco, David Fereira model (ie aging yet still savy vet playing at a good level) has worked out much better than trying to catch a guy who's career is falling like a rock (ie laurent robert).

Looks to be a very good header of the ball...other than that his goals look like he's a bit of a poacher rather than creator.

I'm thinking your spot on here. Guessing his salary will be fairly modest in terms of a DP. I think a number of teams will make moves like this, mid-level players (for lack of a better term) to help them push to the next level.

Interesting. He won 2 La Liga titles and a UEFA Cup with Valencia and played for the Spanish NT.

As well as Barrett has played this year I suspect Mista could immediately step into our Starting line-up as a Striker.

It would be great to get both guys to give us some depth at striker and have a big man for Barrett and White to play off of. Also hopefully this will allow for DeRo to drop back into an attacking mid role. Hope all works out with Ornoch too.

I'm confidant Mista would be a solid player in the MLS, with the bonus that Julian already knows Mista's game fairly well and could help him adapt to the MLS game and style. If true, under the right circumstances, I would be pretty damn happy with this signing.

I still don't think he'd be the prolific goal scorer everyone wants, but he'd be a more talented Dichio type front man. He'll score some, and might set a few up but certainly won't light up the MLS.

^I agree Jay, he looks the Dichio type with a bit of Spanish flair. A good fit I think for this team as long as it doesn't break the bank.
