It'll be interesting to see the prices and if TFC SSH get first dibs on our seats.

    We won't get first dibs

    1. Guaranteed seat holders from MLS
    2. sponsors
    3. 2 teams playing in the final
    4. Every MLS team is allocated a certain amount
    5. TFC STH

has it been held at a stadium this small before? I doubt they'll want 17,000 tfc fans, and only 5,000 fans of other teams/dignitaries/freeloaders. I wouldn't mind going to this though, so hopefully we get to buy our seats.

This seems reasonable but this is based on what source exactly?

Im positive TFC fans will get first dibs.

If MLSE and MLS have learned anything, its that TFC fans are suckers. We will pay whatever they ask. There is no way they make as much money allocating tickets to Kansas, Seattle, DC, etc... as they would opening them up to TFC season ticket holders.

This franchise/city is a cash cow and MLS is starting to recognize that.

it was held in Pizza Hut Park and Crew stadium before, both about the same size as BMO... but of course they hardly have any season ticket holders so this wasn't an issue.

There's 16500 season ticket holders right? so with about 22,000 seats this year, that leaves 5500 for the league... that's if all STH's buy in.. but I doubt all will. So maybe 6000-7000 seats for the league. That should be enough to fill obligations.

Just from the past Cups. They even sell on www.mlsnet.com a guranteed seat at MLS Cup. The others I just figured is how things work. I remember last year, some teams didn't want their tickets (via twitter).

I doubt that the league has sold too many guaranteed seat licenses but they might be handy this year.

My friends are already asking me to get tickets, I said that I don't know if the league will even let me have my own seat.

Just looking at last year's finals, there were a lot of Sonders fans there. I do belive it was included in their season's tickets

Even before their debut match in Major League Soccer, Seattle Sounders FC already have attracted a large fan base. The club has sold more than 20,000 season ticket packages, which now include a ticket to MLS Cup 2009, the League's 14th annual championship game. Seattle kicks off its inaugural season on March 19 in the opening game of the 2009 Regular Season.

Ives tweeted that NYRB didnt want to host it this year... maybe they want to be a contender before they offer to host.

A lot on their platter this year, I don't blame them for not wanting the Cup game. Next year, they are a shoo-in.

Wasn't it promised to us within 5 years of entering the league? This is year 4 so I guess they figured it's time to get us out of the way.

    ** edit 5 years not 3 **

    From the Globe story....

Really, MLS’ major concern continues to be the weather. A late November evening off the shores of Lake Ontario will present challenges. But Garber said he was assured by MLSEL executive VP Tom Anselmi that the weather should be decent.

I'm calling Anselmi "The Weatherman" from now on....

As far as seats go, they could do this up like the CFL does Grey Cups and add some temporary seating to boost the numbers.

In terms of who gets seats, I would think that all MLS cares about is a sell out. Some seats will go to each club but by and large it will be up to fans in Toronto to snap up the seats. Seattle included MLS Cups seats in their season ticket package and considering places like New England only get 5,000 or so for playoff games, I think that tickets will be made available to us to ensure it is full.
