Ok, so in this thread I want to know what you think of the current Toronto FC roster for 2010 and what position each player should fill or is the best position for this player:

Here are the options for tactical formation:

    1. 4-4-2: (CB1= Sweeper, CM1= DM, FW1= Target Man)
    2. 4-4-2: Diamond (CM1= DM, CM2= AM)
    3. 4-2-2-2: (CM1= DM, CM2= DM, LW= AM1, RW= AM2)

Here are the players and their positions:

    1. Goalkeepers: (Frei or Edwards), Who do you want to start?

Who is the best at this position?

    2. Right Back: Wynne, Attakora, Serioux, Garcia, Sanyang, DeGuzman.
    3. Left Back: Brennan, Gala, Serioux, Garcia.
    4. Centre Back 1: Serioux, Garcia, Attakora, Gomez, Brennan, Robinson.
    5. Centre Back 2: Serioux, Garcia, Attakora, Gomez, Brennan, Robinson.
    6. Right Winger: DeGuzman, Ibrahim, DeRosario, Cronin, Sanyang, Barrett, White, Serioux, Wynne, Robinson.
    7. Left Winger: DeRosario, Barrett, Brennan, Gala, Serioux, Cronin, Robinson.
    8. Centre Midfielder 1: DeRosario, DeGuzman, Robinson, Cronin, Sanyang, Serioux.
    9. Centre Midfielder 2: DeRosario, DeGuzman, Robinson, Cronin, Sanyang, Serioux.
    10. Forward 1: Barrett, Gerba, DeRosario, Ibrahim, White.
    11. Forward 2: Barrett, Gerba, DeRosario, Ibrahim, White.

Results of the poll will be posted soon
*Poll time limit ran out before I could finish making the poll so I will keep track by hand just post who you think is the best player per position and try to keep it to this format:

Who Is The Best For Each Position? Sub?

    1. Goalkeepers:

    1. Goalkeeper - Whoever Wins the Job: Frei gets the nod as favourite, as he was the game-in & game-out starter last season. But after a rough outing Edwards was never even given a chance the next game (until Frei got hurt). I think this season, and in camp, we need more of a sence of urgency. Win or play great and you start. Have a bad game, and the next guy gets a shot.

Are you saying that Attakora is the third best we have at CB?

I guess this is an exercise in the "wisdom of crowds," except I would fear what this crowd would choose. We'd sack every one of our players after one bad performance.

    4-4-2: (CB1= Sweeper, CM1= DM, FW1= Target Man)

Here are the players and their positions:

    1. Goalkeepers: Frei
    2. Right Back: Attakora
    3. Left Back: Brennan (last season though)
    4. Centre Back 1: Serioux
    5. Centre Back 2: Robinson
    6. Right Winger: Cronin
    7. Left Winger: Gala/Ibrahim
    8. Centre Midfielder 1: DeRosario
    9. Centre Midfielder 2: DeGuzman
    10. Forward 1: Barrett
    11. Forward 2: White.

I say let these guys have these positions until they lose them or until we bring in better quality players

I do not mind playing along, it is a fun exercise but I have to say that much of your choices in depth preplex me, and why a 4-4-2? Why is there so much love for that one formation, I am not for it or against it personally. I would just say if playing a 4-4-2 then I prefer a 4-4-1-1 of a 4-3-1-2, version. But ultimatley it depdens on the players you have. First you need to see what you have, which is still not clear to me, and then put your best formation based on these players.

    As far as I am concerend based on the players we have I would line them something like;

    -----------Serioux-----Attakora-------Gomez------------
    Wynne----------------------------------------------Barrett
    ----------------Cronin----JDG-----Sanyang-------------------
    -------------------------De Ro----------------------------
    -------------------------Gerba--------------------------

I like Barret on the wing, I am not sure about WB, but I would try it if his ego permited, he could go bombing up and down that wing (FAR FROM THE GOAL).

I do not mind it at all, if you play a more traditional 4-4-2.

Yes this is a traditional 4-4-2, but like you said in an earlier post I would prefer a 4-4-1-1 or even a 4-3-1-2. I don't think TFC have the talent for a full diamond in the midfield, DeRo and Deguzman should be able to handle it (if JDG actually does anything in '10) but we do not have wing players with enough talent and/or stamina

^ I agree, a full diamond works better wing players then we have.

    A 4-3-1-2 I would like.
