i do think Gerba wasnt given a fair chance last season and we will see better from him this season and i say this even knowing his background and being particularly skeptical of initially signing him

And that fair chance could be due to his injury....who knows what the real story is.....I hope he has a good off season of rehab and hopefully a fully fit and healthy Gerba for the new season.

The best Canadian news was hidden in the article about Hart:

Other updates expected today revolve around the reconstruction of the CSA constitution aimed for 2011, including proposed changes to the board and executive, with governance falling in line with the Australian soccer and/or United States soccer models, two teams that have qualified for the 2010 World Cup.
    Maybe there is hope.
MLS is a tough, physical league, that emphasizes speed, and features plastic fields, grueling travel, extreme weather, and incompetent refs. - NK Toronto

Gerba never seemed close to 100% last year. I think if he gets match fit he can be a good striker for TFC. Frankly (don't want to beat a dead horse here) but I blame a lot of last year's problems on the coaching. Not so much Cummins' but the whole situation with Carver bailing early in the season and no seasoned replacement available. Now that the team has its first real coach we should see better play both as a team and individually.

I agree. I think Preki will motivate TFC to play to their potential in an organized system wherein players will have definitive roles suitable to their skill set. If last year's underachievers such as Gerba, Barrett, and Wynne can flourish under Preki's tutelage it will push TFC over the top. Let's not forget that the Reds were a few mental lapses away from being a playoff team if not a contender last season. Real Salt Lake proved yet again that all it takes in the MLS is an invitation to the dance and then anything is possible...

Where did Gareth Wheeler learn to write? His sentence structure is terrible.

Almost eight months after being named interim caretaker of the Canadian men's team, Stephen Hart will have the label dropped when he officially is named head coach today.
only about three years too late.
