Great love does not exist without joy and without great suffering ,that's why One club is worth only as much as its fans !

"Blatter, who I’d love to see at just one MLS game, has never enjoyed the tropical breeze off Lake Ontario in January"

    Good line.

FIFA has no right to criticize MLS
    By STEVEN SANDOR, SUN MEDIA
    ...
"Hey, all MLS fans. Cheer for the team of your heritage when it plays at the World Cup. But, at the other times or, if you don’t have a horse in the race, take the U.S. team into your hearts. For the pride of all the MLS players or MLS grads on the team.

As a statement that OUR league is good enough."

Understand where Sandor is coming from on this statement but I would find it hard to cheer on the US. I do always like an underdog. (are the US still considered underdogs??)

I tend to cheer on teams that have players that play for the big club I support. Never thought about cheering for a team because of TFC being in the MLS.

I was at the Raps game last night and saw the new charity launch.
The MLSE bigwigs brought out Lincoln Alexander (former Lieutenant Governor)
and had a little announcement about the new charity. Blackslapping all around.

now maybe they can work on getting a team that can beat the Washington Wizards?
(I'm in TFC off-season, so I'm not even thinking about that)

If you don't have any news to write about, invent some. There is no indication that FIFA is imposing itself into the labour negotiations. Some stories are a good read; mostly indifferent. But some really annoying.
And another thing: I am not an American "by default". I may not have a horse in the race (neither Canada nor Scotland) but I will pick one or two. And one will not be the USA.
Good morning! (now I'm ready to review employee salaries for 2010)

I've always rooted for the states when they compete in the World Cup. Always have, always will. Until Canada gets there of course.

    NEVER!

    1. cause then it makes it even worse on Canada
    2. I hate the red white and blue pride, if they win in the world cup they will think there the best at everything God has created
    3. its just disappointing to see them there, and wonder what there doing different

So FIFA would like to see MLS adopt more of the system that has put a lot of its prominent clubs across Europe in financial peril. Okay. FUCK YOU, SEPP BLATHER AND FIFA!

Personaly, I think Woody Paige got it right on Monday's Around The Horn, where he described the head of FIFA like a bladder condition.
TORONTO FC, 2017 MLS CHAMPIONS!!! (Still the greatest in league history!)

I think it's good to see De Ro participating in something as MLSE-driven as this new foundation.

Now, De Ro has always done huge amounts of charity work, I know, but if he's willing to 'schill', so to speak, for this, I think it could mean we really don't have to worry about the uncertainty over this contract status or if he's unhappy with MLSE over the way the money situation was handled. Maybe he's not keen on Mo, but he's willingly working with the organization on organizational things. So that's good.

Steve Sandor's article is very good.

It's ridiculous to have too stringent standards around the world that make it difficult for all countries to follow.

He says MLS should have only 18 teams...and yet it's a market with 400million people.

Should Ecuador with a market of 13million have 18 teams in their first division as well? Well they don't. Not even close.

Should these countries have a similar structure despite their disimilar characteristics?

Blatter is an idiot. I can't think of one good thing he has done since he came into office. FIFA is a disgrace.

    North American fans like playoffs.

    We like a championship game.
Um... That's a bit of a broad assumption to make.

I did agree with most of the article, though.

You can probably back-up the, "We like a championship game," quote with TV ratings for championship games. He probably should have said, "Most of us," or, "the media love championship games," something like that.

But certainly if MLS is trying to win new fans it needs something to showcase. It's a little tough in North America to say to fans, "Watch the whole season, every game. The points difference at the end of the season that will determine the champion might come down to a game the top two teams played against each other in July...." At least in the early stages. The league might build that kind of a following but it'll take a while.

The sports media, though, will probably never buy into that kind of a set-up with so many other sports to focus on and their own ADD and ADHD.
