Big Winter Ahead For Reds
This article is about a week late to be relevant.
"Failure simply isn't an option at this stage. TFC pushed its chips to the middle of the table when it splurged on Bradley and Defoe and reinforced its bet by making savvy acquisitions elsewhere. This collection of players is capable of delivering on the promises made during the close season. There are no more excuses available for TFC. Only success will continue the process of atoning for the past and establishing a higher standard for the future." FOX Sports

wow 2016 and things are looking up --- come on you reds lets go
The Sweeper: Mo Johnston is lucky he’s not in Seattle
http://pitchinvasion.net/blog/2009/1...ot-in-seattle/Paul James in the Globe and Mail says TFC have been ignoring the basic requirements in the recruitment of the team, concluding that “without a clear vision as to where you are going and then a plan as to how you are going to get there, you really have very little chance”. Meanwhile, TFC’s owners, MLSE, are forced to defend Mo and the two-year contract extension they oddly granted him in the middle of a mediocre season saying that “the direction is the right direction”. I barely dare ask if TFC fans agree: the club may be profitable, but failing to make the playoffs in its first three seasons is obviously unacceptable performance-wise.

I actually really agree with that paragraph you quoted, particularly with regards to the bit about not having a vision or a blueprint for the team.
Fox Soccer Channel Ratings Surge For Premier League Games

EPL Talk looks at the surging ratings for MLS games on Fox Soccer Channel, which have grown a remarkable 69% in the past year with highs of almost 300,000 viewers becoming a regular occurrence despite its continued niche status on cable networks, reaching only 34.7 million homes. With the channel going HD in January and the Premier League rights sewn up for a few years ahead, the future looks very bright for FSC.

http://www.multichannel.com/article/...ewer_Gains.phpFor their part, Serie A live and first-run matches were up 48% to a 49,000 viewer average in October, while Major League Soccer audiences surged 89%, averaging 51,000 viewers to 27,000 over the same period in 2008, according to Nielsen.

Who knows, maybe with the support of the Seattle ownership he'd be doing exactly what they're doing. As they were putting the team together they looked at the top team in the league at the time and hired their coach - got caught in a tampering scandal and "reached an agreement with Coumbus," for cash and allocaion money (they must have been talking to Sigi while he was prepping his team for the MLS Cup). There were some rumours about the way they acquired Monero and they went after a DP right away.
Do you think MLSE would have done any of that?
Frei is well deserving.
I hope he gets it. . I wonder who had the most rookie minutes?
NOTICE: Wager with STB: OVER 2 shots on goal in the First half wins a Pint at HT.
I think Omar Gonzalez gets it. I haven't watched him enough, but LA made it into the playoffs easily. Plus, he's a defender who went to a defensively weak team and they are not so weak any more. It's not all him, but it will look good on him.
Not sure who had the most, but Gonzalez has 400 more minutes than Frei too.
For last seaon, sure. It remains to be seen how effective he'll be with a new coach, a new system and a pre-season with the team. I'm going to remain optimistic for the winter, at least.
And,more importantly, I think the pressure applied by the supporters went a long way to changing the minds on the board (just like itdid for grass). We know how this organization operates and we should be able to use that. I like how they've now admitted a more experienced coach is a requirement.
The right pressure applied to the right things will help a lot. It's why I don't like the, "____ must go," because it gives ownership an easy out - fire that guy and get a new one just the same. That's not what we want. If the pressure had been to, "Fire Cummins," then that likely would have happened and he could possibly have been replaced by yet another coach with very little experience.
