    Default Quick-But Small Question.....

Why is the Toronto FC Academy, called the TFC Academy, and not just Toronto FC Academy. It seems as if TFC is the name, instead of Toronto. Its just being bugging me, so I was just wondering.

It's just short form for Toronto FC Academy.
MLS is a tough, physical league, that emphasizes speed, and features plastic fields, grueling travel, extreme weather, and incompetent refs. - NK Toronto

I kind of like it called TFC Academy...

When you make the big club, you get the full "Toronto" ...

I dont like it being called that.... Toront FC Academy is who you play with...

Its not like that anywhere else in the world, your part of the club, thats the honour in being in the TOronto FC Academy, not the nickname

It is a valid point that more and more the Toronto is being dropped from the team's name.

    On purpose? Marketing?

^I think it's natural for media to be unsure with the unknown. Reports vary from "Toronto FC" to "the Toronto FC". TFC sounds more NA nicknamey.

This guy who went to my school last year is in the academy. I told my friend that he plays for Toronto FC academy so my friend asked him and he said that he plays for TFC academy. I don't know I think that it's actually called TFC academy.

Could it possibly be due to the fact that the name "Toronto FC" is itself owned by the league? I think that's still the case, so perhaps there is copyright/IP issues here.

Yeah, it's kinda shitty. We don't even own our own crest. The Toronto FC name, badge, colours, pretty much everything that identifies us is owned by MLS.

i thought that this was the case, however, after some surfing
Toronto FC "academy" is the only team that does not have the same name as the first team.

I guess if we had a serve team or youth team they would be called the "Reds Youth" or "Reds Reserve"

    So stupid
