The stadium's not finished, nor will it be for years.

    Until then, suck it up.

Sick of these threads...especially from people who ACKNOWLEDGE that it's been discussed to death.

to be clear... nobody is wanting that... we don't want a roof over the pitch... just the stands...

and personally, I don't care about the weather, it's the acoustics that I want a roof for.

yes... this topic has been beaten to a pulp... but I still dream of the day.

i think we all want a roof only for the stands, but that will take a while for that to happen, especially since tfc doesnt even own the damn stadium. I think we need to get a little tower for capos at the bottom of the south section, i know wisla krakow has one, chicago fire too, that will really help with our chant organization. too bad it would be a mission to get one though since the support group leaders would have to argue with the city for that.

are all roofs created equal when it comes to sound? I dunno if that canvas beast on the RSL stadium is gonna do much for sound. it's also so damn high up and angled towards the sky that it probably wouldn't make much of a difference.

Has there been any talk to city officials about trying to let tfc fans bring in a capo tower or something?

I can't find a good picture of it, but when they were making the movie Gladiator they built a retractable roof on the Colosseum. They found archaeologists who had researched it and found that there was a canvas roof held up by wooden poles. A system of ropes and pulleys allowed them to roll it out or pull it back. The movie company had the money to build it for their set and they proved that the archaeologists were right. It would be cool to have a roof like that and it would be cheap to build. It wouldn't weigh much so it wouldn't require structural changes to the building.

    This is all I could find for a picture;

You know, the game is played outside at the mercy of the elements. The players don't bitch and complain when it's hot or when it rains or snows. Neither should you. A roof will only drive up prices and attract poseurs.

Pretend you're riding a bike and dress appropriately - and stop whining.

If it's acoustics that you're worried about - sing louder.

BMO would absolutely ROCK with a roof...the sound would be unbelievable!!!

When they built the new Wembley, they designed the roof with the sound in mind! We should do the same!!!

Wouldn't there be a ton of heat build up on days like today with a roof? Yes the sound would stay in...but that warm humid air would have nowhere to go.

I don't care about the rain or the sun. But I do care about the atmosphere. If we had a roof we'd be 10 times as loud, and the sound would stay with us instead of flying away from the stadium with the wind -- and as a result sections would be able to coordinate chants a lot better.

Anyone who has been in a stadium with a roof would know the above. So enough with the rain or fucking sun talk. We're not tough coz we have no roof, we're pretty lame in football supporters terms. We're just wasting atmosphere.

We need a roof on the west stands so when it rains all the part time fans don't go scurrying into the concourse and make me late for the second half. I missed the first two minutes of the second half of the LAG game because the concourse was jammed full of people trying to get out of the rain. I guess they were made of sugar and were afraid they would melt.

For me, the roof is all about keeping the sound of our chants in. Doesn't matter how loud and strong we sing, it will never sound as good as the day we get a roof, period.

Other than that, I don't care about some rain. I like rain better than searing sun anyways and since I am on the west side, the sun is not really an issue.

If we don't keep asking for it, we will never get it. The squeaky wheel gets the grease my friends.
