2010 Schedule

Just putting this idea out there early enough that somebody can take the ball and run with it. Why not schedule TFC away games with holiday weekends in Canada to make traveling support an easier task and spare us some vacation days from work. Here is a hypothetical schedule of events:

Victoria Day Weekend: DC United
Easter Long Weekend: LA Galaxy (floating holiday)
August Long Weekend: New England
Labour Day Weekend: New York
Thanksgiving Weekend: Chicago
St. John the Baptist Day: Montreal

July 1: An all Canadian matchup vs. Vancouver to celebrate Canada day.

Victoria Day, Easter Long weekend (well Good Friday at least) and August long weekend are all holidays in Canada but not in the US.

If demand builds up, Memorial day weekend could see Columbus, New England, DC or Chicago come to Toronto.

The advantage to this is if everybody knows well in advance when a team is coming to town, you can get a bit of tradition built up.

I actually like this idea, because not only does it allow away supporters to go to matches, it allows people who go away for the weekends (to cottages and such) to do so without missing any home TFC action.

Regarding the Canada Day matchup, they did it in 2008, and it was awesome. The problem now is the Canadian Championship ends before Canada Day. The final should be on Canada Day every season

That depends on whether or not MLS league games will count towards the Canadian Championship when Vancouver joins in 2011...if it doesn't then we have a permanent fixture.

The US Open Cup doesn't count league games, why would the Canadian one do so? (Yes, I know the original awarding of the VC was based on league games, but that was because there was no incentive to have a separate tournament).
