Hey all,
Has anyone had any luck getting a camera with a >75mm lens into BMO?
Do they regularly check camera bags?
Are they going to care if I have a teleconverter on a 70mm?
Cheers!

seems to be hit or miss with cameras
they check lenses, but don't know that much about them.
if you have a teleconverter, they won't know what it is.
I got stopped with a wide angle and they asked me if it was over 70mm.
I laughed and explained it was 0.7mm

also, just because you get it into the stadium doesn't mean security inside BMO wont leave you alone. They check too.

my bud had his taken during game action for being 80 mm, (to fan services)
they stated "the eyes in the sky" had pointed him out
Lenses are a little tougher to fool them.....if you have the coin to have 2 cameras, I would say go for a point and shoot with a high optical zoom.

This is rather Ghey. You can bring a huge ass lens to a Jays game and take photos all game, but you can't bring in anything above 75 mm?
It seems they are getting more concerned about cameras......I used to walk in with my Panasonic no problems, but now it seems that every game I have to explain that it's not a DSLR and that there's no removable lens.
and I think I'm gonna look into buying a teleconverter for my Canon......I'm pretty close for the RM practice (row 2) so it would be nice to a 70mm*2......
I don't understand why there is such a huge deal, its not like we are bringing in Telephoto Lenses. but meh, go with a high optical point and shoot.
i have a 70 mm with a removable sun shade, they hasstle me about the sunshade, but don't know that it has screw on telephoto or fisheye lens!!
^^^ now they do.
It was the MLS crackdown. The minute Becks came into the league it seems we have all knids of rules about cameras and media passes.
Anyhow, optical zooms are great on point and shoot cameras.

You can always eject the memory card before hand.....

You can check just the lens and keep the camera.

^^^ i actually have only brought it once this year, dont want to give it a beer shower in 112

FYI there is no apostrophe when pluralizing cameras
i have brought my 70-300 lens many times with no problem... just keep a smaller lens on the camera while walking in. stuff the larger lens in a pocket and walk in...
there was a guy and his girlfriend who sat beside me in 111 since the very first game in '07...earlier this year security came and hassled him about his camera which he had brought to every game, they took him away and he hasn't been to a game since, although I know that he gives his tickets to friends who come and sit there now.
my only real worry is that i'm front row, so it might be a little more obvious if I bring something larger than 75mm
maybe my p&s might be a better option....
Anyone have any problems at the practice last night with cameras? I saw tonnes of SLR's with lenses >75mm or whatever the max is. Hopefully they are not to strict at tonight's game
I saw some guys around 107 being escorted to security to check in their lenses.......
BMO web site says "Cameras with lenses 75mm or over or other audio visual equipment (eg. video cameras) are not allowed to be brought into the stadium without the appropriate working media credential." - So if you're going to bring a 75mm lens you are taking a chance.
If you're at all concerned you're going to be hassled, I'd print out the list of prohibited items from the web site and have it one hand just in case. I've heard some people being questioned using smaller lenses.
I have never had a problem with my video cam until the PR game... I have brought it to every game with out hassle and without hiding it...but for some reason they didn't let me bring it in for the PR game
My buddy was questioned (ahem interrogated) for his lense at a friendly last year (Pachuta or w/e)...
He's a photographer, knew the rules, and brought the lense that was well within the allowed limits. Problem is, the guard had no idea about the terminology etc...
After he realised he was wrong, courtesy a printout brought from another guard that had everything listed - he apologized and was a good guy, but it took a good 15-mins of annoyance to get it settled...
Bring a lense that is well within the limit, not right at the edge of whats allowed (IMO)....
Carts...
