i'm not sure how or when PPV number are released, but the guy who runs UFC was hoping for between 750,000-1,000,000 buys (which I think would be a record for them)

We never get the buy-rates for PPV's as PPV is not considered competition for advertising dollars for us...

Normally the only actual digital media advertising the broadcast purchases is a title sponsor - which is based on the expected buy-rate. Something like "...Snickers present, UFC 100..." etc etc etc...

The ring board advertising etc is something I never deal with so I don't know how their 'media buys' go (although I assume its based on buy rates for PPV's as well)...

If I see the number float through on the releases, I'll defintely posted it here for you guys...

86,000 - it seems to be coming along. I find it interesting that a little over half was in Ontario, I thought the percentage would have been higher.

Frankly, that's why I suspect that the numbers have less to do with people tuning into the game than people not turning off after the baseball.

That can still be a good thing though. More exposure.

yeah, better to have people stick around to watch an exciting win instead of just tuning out. That can help make new fans of the team.

Is this new Sportsnet high? Usually they get around 30K for TFC games.

86k at that time slot is pretty good. by the time the game was done it was gone midnight, so to have so many tune in is a good pull. well, relatively speaking of course.

I was talking to JonO earlier and we were wondering what kind of rating TFC would get if they made the MLS Cup Final, and how that would compare to the ratings in Canada for previous years with no Canadian team playing in the final. be interesting to see how much impact the prospect of a league winning team actually had on the press coverage here and subsequent viewer ratings, or if it only caused a minor bump.

If I were MLSE I'd try to get every game on Sportsnet to follow a Jays game - without the help, the RSN numbers have been dreadful.

well id say for sure the San Jose match lost some viewers because of UFC being on at the same time.

Also i think had the game been at say 7 or 7:30 pm more like the same Leaf timing of saturday night games that so many people are use to then Ontario would of had higher rattings.

Also TFC always get higher rattings whne they play on CBC.

I wonder if there was no UFC if maybe the numbers would be little higher . RSN SHOULD SHOW A tfc game after a Jays game I think the numbers would be good. I am happy with 86000, could be more.

following a jays game can be tricky, especially when they go to extras or if theres a blow-out.

I'm impressed with these numbers, considering UFC100 was happening at the same time.

Canada has it's share of morons watching cars go in circles for 3 hours, including 75 minutes of commercials...that only proves it...

Tough break for TFC on Saturday night.

UFC. Soccer. Pretty much the same audience demographic, right?

I watched the Nascar race too.

7:00-10:43 SportsNet National / Blue Jays-Orioles = 306,000. Required viewing for everyone employed by Rogers and subsidiaries. Must watch with at least one friend. Includes Jerry Howarth and Alan Ashby and in the booth. Employees must pass snap quiz on each game to get full paycheque.

Total viewers outside this group - 1,246

6:30-11:30 TSN National / Nascar Lifelock 400 = 262,000 (does not incl American Network audience). US had race on TNT network. No one gets it here, no one watches it down there.

    10:00-12:00 CBC National / Calgary Stampede = 291,000 .

    Stampede viewer breakdown.

    Pacific - 0
    Ontario - 0
    East - 0
    Alberta -291,000
