Reds players get back to work
Team begins to prepare for Saturday's match at San Jose

After a weekend off, Toronto FC players returned to training at BMO Field on Monday as they started to prepare for Saturday's match on the road at San Jose Earthquakes (kick off 10:30 p.m. ET live on Rogers Sportsnet). The rest came at a good time for the Reds after playing 13 matches in a period of 56 days, but coach Chris Cummins knows the importance of getting back to business straight away. "We needed a break and it came at a good time for us," said Cummins. "The older players had a bit more time off than the younger lads and this morning everybody came back and looked fresh. It was important for us to have a break because we had two very heavy months. Now we get back to work and everybody is focused on having a strong second half of the season and pushing for the playoffs."

Mixed weekend for Juniors in Denver
Reds beat Columbus after losing to Real Salt Lake

Toronto started strongly against Salt Lake and took a two goal lead in the first 26 minutes through Keith Makubuya and Eric Ngo. Real Salt Lake came firing back after half time and scored three unanswered goals to win the match. It's embarassing that MLSE would even ask someone to take a pay cut to IMPROVE the playing surface and conditions for one of their teams...

This empire makes more money in interest in one day than the entire TFC yearly payroll costs them!!! (I have no information to prove that! LOL)...

But, lets just say they've got cash. Hell, Ivan Fecan sold half his shares, which was about 7% of the company, and he got $90-Million-Dollars!!! That puts the company at about $2.58-Billion-Dollars!!!

    Carts...

If JDG has a good agent, and I would guess he does, I'm sure he's just using the TFC offer as leverage to get a decent offer in Europe. I still think he's got one more contract in him at a Euro level (La Liga) and then he'll come home. I'd love to see him in TFC red but I won't be surprised if it isn't for another 2-3 years.

Default Toronto eyes Canada star de Guzman.

Canadian international midfielder Julian de Guzman confirmed on a radio show Monday that Toronto FC has bid aggressively for his services.

De Guzman, 28, is out of contract following four seasons with Spanish club Deportivo Coruna and TFC has offered him a Designated Player contract, the value of which has been hotly debated on various web sites. However, a source confirmed last month that the club had discussed offering him as much as $3 million per season, which stacks up well with what he earned in Spain, though his salary earnings in that country are net, not gross, with the team paying associated costs and taxes...ETC
