Big Brutha was for real, but 98% of posters like this are bogus. I'll wait and see. Just 'cus BB was real doesn't mean we should believe every unknown poster who comes along with some rumour.

Yours were quite obviously, undeniably , bullshit from the top of your head based on what you would like to see. (Laarson and Bellamy I recall) and we all knew it.
Counterattack is giving us a heads up for a deal between our club and another in MLS, not spinning a yarn about a specific big name player or DP.
If it turns out to be true, we can trust him in future.

I wonder if NE wants Phelan. He's buried here, but there were a lot of people who thought he should have gone in the top 5. NE has holes at the back, Chicago has thrashed them 7-0 in their two games so far.
It just seemed to say something that it was Gyan, and not Phelan, who was the late sub last Saturday. (I also freely admit that it may mean nothing!)

Who's that spot for? hmmmmm
The deal is Pat Phelan in exchange for an additional International Roster spot. It was just reported in the Toronto Sun website... They also promoted Jarrod Smith to the senior squad.

Smith was also elevated to the Senior roster, which means a salary jump, good for him.
Remember The Man, The Legend, The Goal 5-12-07 and All That #9 Left On The Pitch, Thanks For The Memories !!!
But does that mean Smith takes up one of those spots? Or was he already taking up one?
Smith already was int so the spot received from NE doesn't change anything there.
But what it does is it means that TFC can now have more flexibility with signing another player. They could sign another international to the senior roster (altho would have to dump somebody from the senior roster by my calculation). I think it's really about flexibility in the type of player you bring in.
Cuz if they had just traded Phelan for a draft pick then they'd free up his INT or American-designated spot (it's unclear which was in use for him).
but it means TFC probably has 2 designations available now for an incoming player. An incoming player could be international or could be American-int (if Phelan's spot was American-int).
A number of those non-domestic spots had to be American.
I'm assuming this means whoever Mo brings in the future will displace one of the Americans and not one of the true internationals.

I didnt realise international slots, were tradeable.
Shame about Phelan, there arent enough bearded redheads in Toronto in my opinion.
this should be at least a 10 pager by 5:00
anyone who the break down of International slots / US players / Domestic etc.. ??
it would make sense they treated for an Int slot to bring Smith into the senior roster..
Could they have simply released Phelan and freed up a roster spot?
Wikipedia is updated. Interesting move. Phelan traded away isn't so surprising as he so far down the depth chart but acquiring a international slot is totally unexpected, despite it making so much sense. I guess we all forgot about this option.
This is a very significant trade for TFC.
One of Toronto's Int'l spots already was from a trade and expires (goes back to its original club) next year. So it doesn't necessarily mean that TFC is going to sign two internationals. More likely it means Mo is going to sign someone (DP striker?) to a multi-year deal.
Clever trading by Mo IMO. TFC gets room to sign a striker to a multi-year deal, and Phelan gets a chance to break into a less deep squad.
Looks like counterattack was the real deal.
