Default Do you like this Idea?

With GolTV Canada having a contest for the Wembley Cup and our Carlsberg Cup friendly every year do you think that a Carlsberg Cup tournament against Liverpool and Copenhagen is feasible (if time permits during our season)?

Also, this obviously wouldn't be an every year thing (mainly because of the stature of Liverpool)

Think about it Atiba Hutchinson and Copenhagen (Canadian star and a pretty good team) plus one of the top 5 recognizable teams in the world coming to play at BMO

Just a thought, maybe if there is a lot of support Paul or the FO will at least consider it

Too many friendlies. 1 max per year is what we should normally have.

I'm all for it...if it's a preseason tournament. Otherwise I agree with Oldtimer, we have too many other games to worry about

How can people not love the idea? No way it'll happen but it's a great idea.

Friendlies that do not involve TFC are fine by me... go crazy...

Friendlies that involve TFC... they should not exist during the regular schedule.

I agree with this....the problem is that our preseason is during the end of their season. No EPL team will cross the Atlantic in February to play in a friendly tournament.

Can't be preseason with European and MLS seasons overlapping.

    No.

I voted yes by accident. I meant yes and no.

I dont like meaningless friendlies, but if were going to have a 'carlsberg cup' anyway, I would like to see a tourney between carlsberg sponsors, maybe during a scheduled break in the season. I don't think I'd pay $125 for my seat, because then I'd be a hypocrite.

Maybe one year they could host it at Anfield. Everybody goes abroad to play friendlies, why not MLS teams?

Nah. Carlsberg aren't our main sponsors, remember, BMO are, and anyway, I bet the Danish league plays a spring-fall schedule as well. I don't think it'd work out, and I'd rather see us concentrate on league and cup matches instead of mid-season friendlies.

Agreed. The schedule is getting crowded enough as it is.

if MLSE was really smart, they would have tried to get friendlies in the Gold Cup time when TFC doesn't have many games early to mid july
“Years have gone by and I’ve finally learned to accept myself for who I am: a beggar for good football.

I go about the world, hand outstretched, and in the stadiums I plead: ‘A pretty move, for the love of God.’

And when good football happens, I give thanks for the miracle and I don’t give a damn which team or country performs it.”
