Default how to salvage a season

i understand that a lot of these concerns have already been discussed all over the board, so im creating this thread so we at least have one area where we can have one concrete location to talk abotu this. we're on a three game losing streak, morale is low, fans a fired up (and not in the good way), so let's explore options on how we can possibly turn the season around:

SCARP / BENCH THOSE WHO AREN'T PERFORMING:
let's face it, vitti hasnt scored since getting here. barrett cant finish. players aren't consistant in their efforts. it's time that the staff starts making some examples, bench players that aren't performing and start cutting people loose.

    PUT GRASS DOWN:
i understand they have a lot of shit they have to work with on this one, but come on, no one can say that they're trying as hard as they can be on this one and that's sad. it won't save our season, but it also can't make us any worse, the difference is a good portion of our team will get more spring in their step with this addition.

    TAKE THE PRESSURE OFF:
frei and dero, two prime examples. good players hate playing for bad teams and as much as we love them and as much as they don't want to, they will leave. do they want the added stress to play for a losing squad? countless games go by where dero is gangraped under the coverage of 2 or 3 defenders. frei is openly getting frustrated (*cough*valez*COUGH*) at the lack of defending. cut these guys a break. dichio isn't getting any younger either.

    FIND DICHIO A SUCCESSOR:
let's face it. no one can replace him but guevera, dichio and dero, those three score goals. one of them wont be here next season. danny is an imposing force that's scored as many goals as chad barrett in half the minutes. he's the heart of our team and he's leaving next season. someone's stepping up in his place, but we need someone who brings as much heart and as much physical attacking dominence as that man.

    STRIP BRENNAN AS CAP:
this man is highly inconsistant at best and that's no way for a captain to carry himself.

    SHAKE THINGS UP A BIT:
replace mo or cummins. enough said.

    BRING IN A DP:
we need a striker or a CB. that's a given and there's no denying it.

Funny thing...to save this season, all you have to do is make it into the playoffs.

Quick and easy solution. Address the problems on the pitch. It is glaring obvious that we need a CB (STILL!) and a finishing forward.

Add that and you have a playoff team. Keep things as is, and we're out, it's as simple as that.

The easiest/most important one is the DP striker.

And remember, grass will help opposition teams, too. Even LA missed a few good chances because of weird bounces on the turf....

-Who did you want to play instead of Vitti and Barrett for next game?
-How long would it take to install grass? Would we need to play somewhere else in the meantime?
-Making any of these adjustment would take pressure off.
-Dichio's successor may be O'Brien. Maybe not but they'll probably try him before they buy someone else.
-Who did you want as captain?
-Replacing Mo and/or Cummins mid season will not take pressure off.
    -DP.Yes.Who?

You seem to be compiling a lot questions being asked in other threads. That's not really simplifying.

Agreed but unrealistic on a few.

At this point if we are going to continue to play a 4-3-3 who do you play at forward especially when Amado is not playing. Ibby is still good enough to sub in later in games but I don't see him being a huge force for a full game. I think we are all seeing Vitti getting better at this point and he will score against NYRB this weekend.

Unfortunatley we all know there is no chance of permanant Grass being put down this season and by the sounds of things even next year is questionable.

Agree completley on the DP, this HAS to happen and now is the time for it.

    Good list!

agreed, but can we make the playoffs with the calibre of footie we've been playing? definately not.

If they spend their remaining money in the right places... then yes.
We actually aren't that far from being a competitive team.
A couple more ingredients into the mix, and we could be in good shape.

We don't need a DP striker, just a striker that can finish. A DP striker would be nice, but at this stage, I'd take Cunny back!

If I am not mistaken we are tied with 4 other teams for like 2 playoff spots. We just need to find our quality again and finish our chances and this season will be more then salvaged. And if they want to start winning our hearts back....a 4-0 victory over L'impact will be a good start

The reason why we're not getting the players we want is the fact that we don't have a proper playing surface. We struggle to get friendlies because of this, so obviously GOOD strikers would pass us by until we put in grass. We CAN get grass, but it's not cheap - and our FO is only about money, not winning at any cost.

In this league? Sure we can. Have you seen the other teams play?

We can also beat Montreal by 4 - they've collapsed by that much before .

This season isn't over at all. Really, the DP striker would make such a big difference.
