Houston (5-2-3) improved to 5-0-2 in its last seven games, while Toronto (4-4-4) lost for the second time in three matches.

Toronto FC were coming off a 3-1 win against New England last week and had lost just once in their last six games. Houston entered riding a six-game unbeaten streak, with wins in four of those six games.
Looks, however, can often be quite deceiving.
Houston jumped on Toronto FC early, getting three goals in a five-minute span of the first half and then sitting back the rest of the game, dominating the Reds in a 3-0 defeat.

Jackson's goal lifts Canada
LARNACA, Cyprus -- Simeon Jackson celebrated his first career senior cap with a second-half goal yesterday to give Canada a 1-0 win over Cyprus in an international friendly.
Jackson picked up a pass at the top of the box from a quickly taken free kick that seemed to catch the Cypriot defence off-guard. The 22-year-old striker, who plays for English club Gillingham, fired the ball past goalkeeper Antonis Georgallides in the 53rd minute.

Canada defeats Cyprus in soccer friendly

Simeon Jackson scored in the second half to give Canada a 1-0 victory over Cyprus in an international friendly on Saturday.
Josh Simpson played a quick free kick to Jackson at the top of the Cypriot box, and he fired a shot past keeper Antonis Georgallides and into the far corner.
"It's a great confidence boost for me to get my first cap and a goal as well," Jackson said after the match. "Now I'm looking forward to the Gold Cup."
