Cummins give players a break from artificial turf
Workout on grass field a welcome change for TFC; `It's a little softer'
    Daniel Girard

It's an attempt to reduce the home-field disadvantage.
Toronto FC players yesterday had a fast-paced, two-hour workout on grass, a deliberate move by the coaching staff to give them a break from the daily pounding on the artificial surface of BMO Field.
"It's nice to get them out of the environment they're normally in, and get them on some softer pitches," head coach Chris Cummins said on the sidelines of the field, beside the new Pine Glen Soccer Centre in Oakville.

Reds play host to East rivals Revs
Toronto FC look to add cushion in standings ahead of New England

Toronto FC can put some separation between themselves and the New England Revolution, their next closest pursuers in the Eastern Conference, when the teams meet Saturday afternoon at BMO Field. TFC saw its four-game league unbeaten streak (and six games in all competitions) put to an end in a rare home loss last weekend, falling to the Chicago Fire; the Revolution haven't won since the first week in April though they've recorded back-to-back draws.

TFC goes au natural at practice
    By RYAN JOHNSTON

It was blue skies and green grass for Toronto FC on Thursday as the team trained in Oakville, ON, ahead of Saturday's clash with New England at BMO Field.
Not just green grass, real green grass.
"It (training on grass) is something we have spoken about for quite a while now as we do train them quite hard," coach Chris Cummins said after the Thursday session. "It's important that we get them on to a decent surface and the pitch we hope to train on will be ready in a couple of weeks.

Serioux happy to be back home in Toronto
Reds defender delighted with opportunity to play in front of hometown fans
By Peter Mallett / MLSnet.com Staff

TORONTO -- There are often times during a young professional soccer player's career when they ask the question: Is this all worth it? Eight years ago, when Toronto FC defender Adrian Serioux was a United Soccer Leagues All-Star defender with the struggling Toronto Lynx, the question was front and center in his mind.

Revolution need a kick-start against Toronto

FOXBOROUGH - For a team looking for its first win since April 4, tomorrow's matchup for the Revolution against Toronto FC may look appealing.
The Revolution are in the midst of a five-game winless streak (0-2-3) and are traveling to BMO Field, where they have not won in two visits (0-0-2). But since Toronto FC joined the MLS in 2007, the Revolution are 3-0-2 all-time against the club.
A positive result will be welcomed. Part of the problem this season has been a puzzling offense that has managed just seven goals, the lowest in the league.

Glad to read that Serioux likes it here. He has been a major upgrade to our defence.

REFEREE: Michael Kennedy. SAR (bench): Daniel Belleau; JAR (opposite): James Conlee; 4th: Carol-Anne Chenard
Michael Kennedy is one of the better refs, glad to see him here for an important game. I'm also impressed with Carol-Anne Chenard, though she'll only be the 4th official.

Normally when I recognize a ref's name, its because he did something bad in a game. This guy I haven't even heard of, so he must be good....haha!!

Default FC's Resolution: Win The Revolution

Toronto FC aren't making any promises, but they're looking forward to winning the Revolution. That's as in the New England Revolution in their first game back at BMO Field since their four game winning streak was snapped by Chicago last weekend.

The team worked out at home on Friday, and for coach Chris Cummins, it's a chance at redemption. He vows his squad will come out flying.
"We're going to play aggressive ... football," he promises. "We're going for three points. We know they're going to be organized, we know we're going to have to break them down. We'll be patient.
