not just that, but lets say they decide to ship out RR and Sutton to make room for Figo......he comes, we win, he leaves.....are we not in essentially the same spot as now but with plus one championship???
I might take that.

NE has a older history of portuguese that dates back to when fishing was the big industry.

Hence I say they might be americanized already.

They are 2nd / 3rd generation Portuguese down there, just like little italy new york is 2nd/3rd Italian. (they might have an accent, but none of them actually speak italian)

There is a Portuguese 2nd gen baseball player (i cant remember his name), they interviewed him and he knew absolutely zero about his ancestry. To him, he was 100% American.

Me too. I've got plenty of patience but we are talking about our team that hasn't won anything yet. I 'd love to build a Barcelona but how many players will want to come to a well run team that competes but never wins?

I love that people are thinking long term. Of course it preferable...but for how long?

    WE HAVE THE POWER!

I mean we talked about it briefly and the same points were brought up and it all summed up to "do we need him?" - no , "would he come?" - no, "would we like him to come" - yes and yes.

Seems a bit strange that this supposed quote of his that was in the Chinese paper is the complete opposite of what he said just a couple of days when he announced his retirement. At that point he said "I will not play again at the highest level and I will most likely not accept any offer.
"Only if something special emerges, and it is from outside of Europe, but it is not likely."

    http://www.skysports.com/story/0,195...330800,00.html

Doesn't mean he couldn't still turn up in the MLS or elsewhere of course, but judging from he's said I wouldn't expect it.

As long as the stupid DP rule is in place, we should take advantage of it.

It makes these two separate issues - building the core of a team that you hope you can keep together for years and augmenting that with one player for a year at a time.

^ The only thing is that those 109,000 Torontonians does not include Mississauga, Brampton, ect. ect. However, it would not suprise me if Boston was the one community in the US that had more Protuguese then Southern Ontario, the community is very large there.

So who gets Figo is decided by majority vote???
MLS is a tough, physical league, that emphasizes speed, and features plastic fields, grueling travel, extreme weather, and incompetent refs. - NK Toronto

    Figo is retiring.

“I am very proud of my career and that I am finishing it as a champion with Inter,” the 36-year-old said in A Bola.

“I intend to retire outright rather than going to the Middle East or the USA to play.

Are people dense? Do they not understand one iota of business? Guess what kind of teams make the most money? Winning teams.

Not to mention that MLSE is a small portion of the OTPP and TFC an even more miniscule portion of that and suggesting that MLSE is not spending money on a DP because it might affect the OTPP's pension plan adversely is patently absurd.

At least there is a connection compared to most "Brazilian" fans during World Cups.

Then again, can you really blame them for wanting to join the most successful and entertaining international side?

    Plus, their women are smokeshows.

I go about the world, hand outstretched, and in the stadiums I plead: ‘A pretty move, for the love of God.’
