Thank God. Last thing we need is more games. Superliga is crap anyways and the players get no funds from playing in it.

    The Farce continues...

    Selected. Not qualified.

    2 countries invited? No thanks.

The OP is a little midleading.

The teams werent simply 'selected'. They did 'qualify'.

For the 2009 edition of SuperLiga, competitive criteria determined which four teams would represent their respective leagues. The top four MLS teams based on their 2008 regular season record, who are not competing in CONCACAF Champions League in 2009, qualified for SuperLiga 2009: Chicago Fire, New England Revolution, Chivas USA and Kansas City Wizards.

^^Yes and then of the Mexican teams that qualify and want to participate in this Farce.

"For the FMF clubs who declined on the invitation, the next club in line based on points was invited."

Wow... What has SuperLiga done to you???

If TFC were in it and won, would it still be so bad?

I would choose the CCL any day over the SuperLiga, just like in Europe you choose the CL over the Uefa Cup.
MLS is a tough, physical league, that emphasizes speed, and features plastic fields, grueling travel, extreme weather, and incompetent refs. - NK Toronto

Yup. Teams were selected/invited for the inaugural tournament in 2007 only.

These are the same 4 teams that MLS announced would be playing back in November 2008. Nothing news here. Do we have an Olds forum?

UEFA cup is a serious competition where clubs without hundreds of millions in salaries can actually compete on more or less even basis. Superliga is just a retarded joke

I'd rather TFC compete in the CONCACAF Champions League than in MLS's made up Superliga bullshit. The Nutrilite Canadian Champions League is tied into CONCACAF. And that should mean something here.
TORONTO FC, 2017 MLS CHAMPIONS!!! (Still the greatest in league history!)

The waste is the prize money going to Mexican teams year after year. It's not much in the big scheme but I think the players in MLS would like a piece for playing more games, or a better min. salary, or more roster spots to compensate...

Our players play too many games already. (league matches, NCC and perhaps CCL games if we win NCC).

no differnet the the Euro Cahmpions league...when clubs from 2-4 actually get in...so why call it a champions league went they allow non champions in? we need to be super liga, i dont feel TFC is strong enough yet for a long run in the CCL .

If Mexico stays out of CONMEBOL, the Superliga's importance is enhanced, no?
