    Mornin'

    Defining draw
    Gerry Dobson
There are defining moments in a season, and Saturday’s 3-3 draw with D.C. United might turn out to be one for Toronto FC.
D.C. is a place that had never been kind to the Reds. Even though this result in the end felt somehow like a loss, to gain a point in a stadium which had historically been a disaster for Toronto, is like a win.

Seems as if this "second team in the GTA" babblefest has struck Gareth Wheeler.

Second MLS team in GTA would be a welcome move

Been saying it for a while: there is NO reason that Woodbridge AC, or Mississauga City wouldn't bring an AWESOME, awesome, presence to the league. Imagine that derby!

Looking like he's willing to let bygones be bygones, Garber speaks nicely about Montreal:

Expansion continues to be of interest to most readers and there were many posts regarding the status of Montreal as a potential MLS market. We continue to be impressed by the Saputo family's commitment to the sport in Montreal. The Impact is a very popular team (they attracted 55,000 fans to their Champions League match vs. Santos) and play in a soccer-specific stadium in downtown Montreal.

Joey Saputo is working with a variety of local government entities on a plan to expand the capacity of Stade Saputo. I believe Montreal is a very viable MLS market and I plan to keep in regular contact with the Saputos as we continue to develop our future expansion plans.
    http://web.mlsnet.com/news/mls_news...._mls&fext=.jsp

It would be great if we played MTL 4x /year, twice for the V-Cup, and twice in league play.
MLS is a tough, physical league, that emphasizes speed, and features plastic fields, grueling travel, extreme weather, and incompetent refs. - NK Toronto

Not really news - but I will put it hear, Denime. You can start a new thread, if you wish.

DeRo's Blast a Goal of the Week favorite

Good morning folks. As we get ready to kick off the new week with a fresh assortment of posts, I wanted to get the day started with the best goal of the weekend. It came courtesy of Toronto FC's Dwayne DeRosario, who looked to have a game-winner before a late penalty helped D.C. salvage a tie.
I'm sure Mike Magee's late equalizer will get its share of votes for Goal of the Week, but DeRosario's run and blast is, for my money, the best effort of Week 8.

That SSG has a super-hot girl-next-door look about her... very nice!

As for a second MLS team in GTA... I certainly wouldn't object... it would be fun to have a local rival.
I would even be happy to see a Toronto USL club arrive.
That would still give the Canadian Championship some added punch!

And yes... Toronto needs more depth on the roster.
But I am holding out hope that someone will arrive when other leagues conclude their business.
I would rather be patient and get the right person.
At least by waiting this long, TFC gets a good look at the current lineup and is able to assess where help is needed most.
    Make it happen guys!

That's the part that doesn't make sense at all.

^ yeah... I'm not too certain... surely there are a lot of footie fans in the GTA still who are not into TFC yet.

But I think if you brought a team in (whether it be MLS or USL), and gave them a classy looking stadium, with a roof and intimate atmosphere, then people would find the experience attractive enough to get into. I bet there are some folks on the TFC STH waiting list who don't follow the team closely yet want to get tickets. People like that might jump at the chance to get season tickets to another team.

Sounds ludicrous now, but I could definitely see this happening one day... and why not?

IMO, places like 'sauga, Vaughn, Hamilton and even Oakville have a much larger more 'soccer loving' base than say Columbus or KC.

And while yes, the majority of people on the SS waiting list are "TFC" fans, I'm sure a good number of them would pounce on the opportunity to get season tickets for another GTA team.

No way missauga would work, this is not Everton Liverpool.

Alot of fans of TFC come from Mississauga.
The defining factor would be to find out were all the fans are located.

Best bet would be to put a new team in Durham.....

Fair enough, but you delete my post as a result? I didn't post the article, simply commented on it. That's a bit extreme.

    4 (7). Toronto FC (3-2-4)

Last Week: Tied D.C. United, 3-3, on Saturday.
This Week: vs. Chicago Fire on Saturday (4pm, Direct Kick)
Outlook: Playing on the road and without Carl Robinson, TFC overcame a sluggish start to tie D.C. in a match it could have easily won. If there's a negative it's that Toronto goes yet another game without a goal from a forward.

Oh gawd that is depressing Phil. MLS doesn't realize the trouble they are in...if Toronto wasn't in the league, Seattle would not have happened and there goes your "propping" up of the league attendance stats. Somebody remind that douchebag Bill Archer of that fact.
