TFC will play the Revs on May 23rd at 4:00 p.m

Toronto FC announced Tuesday that the Saturday May 23 match against the New England Revolution at BMO Field will start at 4 p.m. ET. This game was previously listed as TBD.

The game will be televised on CBC, with the broadcast beginning with the pregame show at 3:30 p.m. ET. The game can also be heard on The FAN 590 with play by play host Dan Dunleavy.

I think Sutton is more than capable of filling in and he will be playing at some time this year. With the schedule we have the timing makes sense.

Whatever rotation of players happens, it will be their opportunity to show they deserve to be considered for the starting XI on any game day.

Sutton is more than capable, and its a real long season. I also doubt that you will see Dichio at all tonight.

I agree but I would argue that rotation for GKs is of less importance than for outfield players. For this match, I'd stick with Frei.

yeah, for sure ... GK rotation is less of an issue ... and sticking with Frei tonight might be a good call because you would want to start off this tourney with your best team and go for a win .. might have been a better idea to slide Sutton in next week if Frei felt he needed a rest

Frei had a week off last week, then played Saturday.. so he's only played 1 game in 9 days. He'll be fine tonight. But as Suds says above, if he's still tired by the DC game, or plays against DC and can't go for the following Wednesday, then rest him.

But he should be fine today.

The visiting Vancouver Whitecaps figure: Why wait another two years to strike the first blow in their Major League Soccer rivalry with Toronto FC?
Though the Reds are the talk of the MLS for their splashy start the past three seasons, the west coast does have an equally strong claim as the nation's traditional market and tonight's opening Nutrilite Cup game is another chance to remind upstart TFC of that. The Caps begin MLS play as an expansion team in 2011.
"Everything we are doing now is obviously with MLS in mind," Vancouver coach Teiter Thordarson said yesterday at BMO Field. "It's the biggest and best opportunity for us to see where we are and how good we are. We are on fire in our room and everyone is ready to play ball."

Toronto FC, Whitecaps renew rivalry

Bragging rights and pride will be on the line when Toronto FC hosts the Vancouver Whitecaps Wednesday night in the opening game of the 2009 Canadian club championship.
The Montreal Impact won the tournament last year and went on to represent Canada in the CONCACAF Champions League making it all the way to the semifinal before being beaten by Santos of Mexico.
