exactly. Its sad but true.
I don't think it's TFC job to stock the national team, I'd rather have a few Canadians playing among internationals at a higher level, than several Canadians playing at a lower level league. We already have that in the USL. Once Vancouver or Montreal are in, we will have a few more Canadians playing at a slightly higher level.
I'm not saying we should be a feeder team, but it would be nice to get a player with heart and soul from our city just like Steve Gerrard for Liverpool.

Yes, but this will take time for more than 2 Canadians to be in the starting 11.
The academy is a 1st step but we need more MLS teams to make it a reality...
That, and the fact that if we could stock up on the top Canadian players, any time there was a National Team game, we'd be screwed.

That's right, it'll take time. It's like we've come in the middle of the game, players are all under contracts that don't suddenly disappear because we got an expansion team.
Like someone said (about something else, but it applies), it's like trying to change a flat tire on a moving car.
Ask this question again in ten years, see where we are then.
hopfully the TFC Academy team will start to produce some proper Canadian talent. Right now, under the old system, most of them are shit.

Canadian players are important for us, so we need to get the best ones possible we we can afford.

In the future, MLS going to add more Canadian slots to our roster. Hopefully they increase salary cap as well so we can sign good Canadian players.
According to MoJo, Copenhagen quoted him a price 3 million dollars. Although in January of last year, Rangers bid 5 million which was accepted by Copenhagen but Hutchinson rejected the move.
The only good Canadians we could get (or have a realistic shot) is DeRo and Staltieri, but he won't come here because of the turf.

I just want the best possible 11 starters we can field given our salary cap. I don't give a shit's ass if their Canadian, Chinese, Italian, Russian or from the North Pole. Just field the best team you can.
WHy do we remotely care how many Canadians we have on our team? We should want and expect the best team possible...one that can win.
If a canadian fits the bill, fantastic. But let's please not make that a priority...
