    Default Carl Robinson retires internationally

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/foot...ls/7978049.stm

"I've travelled from the other side of the world to play for my country now for the last two years, but I just feel the time is right,"

"If I was in this country I'd still carry on playing (for Wales)... but this is a decision purely on my life now is in North America, I want to play as long as I can over in North America with the objective of getting into management.

This seems like a very tough decision for Robinson as an individual, but it is great news for TFC.
Carl Robinson as TFC coach in 2014?...

Wow. We need to show him some solid support on Saturday. Making this choice at this point is huge for us this season.

Interesting that he wants to get into management. I hope there will be an opening for him at TFC when he decides to retire.

I wish Carl all the best.

Danny D. has previously stated that he might like to work with the TFC academy after his playing days are over.

I am sure that TFC/MLS will be able to use the talents of a stand up guy like Carl Robinson.

my father and I were kinda wondering if this would happen as we watched the germany-wales game today, since Robbo was a sub in the first game, and didn't even get a sniff today. It seems kinda pointless at that age, to travel across the world and sit on a bench. if he was 23 it would be sitting on the bench for a chance at the future.

we need him and I'm glad he won't be leaving anymore this season.

Hey Nascar! Do you still have that Welsh flag with Robbo on it? If you do then perhaps (as the dude who donated the flag) we could make sure it gets to him!

This is fantastic news!! We really could've used him in Columbus. You don't really notice him when he plays for us, but you sure as hell notice when he isn't playing for us. He's just that sort of a player.

I don't know if its good decision Carl (Imagine it was someone giving up Team Canada), but its GREATLY appreciated here. Mad respect for what had to be a tough tough decision. And I personally would have NO problem with Coach Robinson, associate coach Dichio.

I was just thinking that actually, Wales is pretty much out of the WCQ and Robbo has to travel really far for it. It'd be another two years before qualifying for EURO 2012 by which time he might no longer be considered for Wales anyway. It's not that much of a surprise to me, but I'm glad he made it. TFC supporters everywhere will be very grateful. We should salute his international career.

No I know its not an uncommon decision. But its a bit selfish to say good decision don't you think? I commend him for making a tough decision. And I appreciate that he made the one I'd prefer lol. But I'm not gonna be so presumtive as to say Good Choice or something like that. It had to be a difficult call for the man.

Dichio & Brennan attended the USSF B licence program in Florida this past winter; so it's shaping up that some players will step into coaching when they are done playing. All these internationals get fast tracked to the B level, they just need to "pass" the various evaluations to gain entry to the A levels. Sutton also does some coaching as well.

Couple of years down the road, TFCA will have coaches named Dichio, Robinson, Sutton and Brennan. That's pull factor; goodbye OSA fartcatchers.

Think of it this was, your boy is u14. Robbo rings up and says, "I want your boy here at TFC, me and Danny are running the u14 program!"
What do you say - naw, I'll stay with X local youth club???
Helllll noooo... where do you sign ....
