Default Drew Carey wants Seattle fans to be like Toronto's

I'm not sure if this has made the rounds at all but I was just watching a press conference with Drew Carey on MLSnet. At about the 31:25 he mentions that his dream is to have the whole stadium singing at the same time and uses Toronto as an example and talks a little about our Soccor IQ.

He was at the all-star game and said we know how to sing, when to boo and when to cheer. He wants seattle to be like Toronto. We are the standard-setters.

Toronto has set the bar. The Crew fans we met last year in Columbus had respect for the atmosphere we create.

We now need to ensure that we keep it high.

Also mentions Toronto early on in the interview. Says Seattle sees itself as an international city, just like Toronto, and the game of Soccer is not a foregin sport to them. It's not just a game your kids play.

That was just the all-star game? How big a difference was there in atmosphere from a regular game? (I've YET to experience a home game live)

We have a lot to be proud of no doubt, but we have a long way to go collectively. We still butcher too many songs and are still screaming and yelling in a drunken mess rather than melodically chanting the way we should be.

    I’d give us a B+ overall.

Also, forgot to mention the Charleston fans that came over to our section complimenting us for our spirit (I recall Sulfur thanking them for our weather .. lol) after the first match and the assorted fans that came over to our section just to hear us better for the RSL match.

    That's a fantastic idea.

I have to say, I'm really pleased to see Seattle doing things right so far.

the allstar game actually got pretty good later on... if i remember correctly that was the "protest" game so nobody chanted at the start. but then that plan went out the window and it actually got very loud, particularly the chants for Brennan.

my main memory of the allstar game was just the quality of the play.. i had dreams of what it would be like if we could see that quality every week in MLS.

loudest chants of the year i think came in the Montreal game.

for me, the all star game was one of the strangest experiences at BMO.

it was like watching the U 20 tourmnament when canada wasnt playing.

i dont cheer for blanco or the others....thank god DERO and Jimmy came on.

    Good work Drew .

By the way. that "fans voting in/out the GM" idea is pretty interesting.
