I wouldn't go that far (CFL is VERY popular in Western Canada), but I can easily see winning TFC beating CFL/Argos in GTA.

NFL and Super Bowl is only fun to gamble or play fantasy football, but product itself is very boring compare to CFL (3 down and bigger field makes gridiron more exciting because there's more space to throw the ball).

Doesn't the CFL still do almost 10x the viewers on TV?

I don't get the Footie vs Football war, but the support for the CFL in Canada is sorely underestimated around here.

Yes it does. And it's an institution that won't roll over for a league been here less than decade.

The rivalry is natural since our schedules are mostly aligned. This sports landscape is maxed out and that means we either share fans or poach em.

New season, time to renew the rivalry. It seems. Apparently.

Hopefully it just gets left this way and the stadium remains a soccer specific venue. I don't want the Argos there ripping the field up.

Does anyone know if the roof over the stands is a full closure, meaning will the back of the stands be enclosed too?

That was a response to a question about kicking more money in

Tory said he was optimistic the rest of the money would come together and that MLSE would one day own the Argos.

“I think the Argos need it to get back on their feet,” he said.

But Tory stopped short of pledging more city funding towards helping the Argos.

“I can’t see saying yes to that,” he said. “What I can use is the mayor’s office … I would use my office to help the Argos in a positive, public-spirited way but I think we’re past the point where a lot of tax dollars can be used for that stuff.”

And this makes you wonder the reason behind the BMO expansion? Report of an outdoor game at Rogers Centre.

BMO expansion is also about hosting non-TFC soccer games (the fact we're hosting Gold Cup games next year is proof of that).

Maple Leafs playing at Rogers Centre? I guess Rogers is the reason behind since they're planning to make upgrades and need to host events to make their ROI on upgrades.

To be honest, playing at Rogers Centre makes way more sense since they can host more people and it has roof so outdoor elements wouldn't play a factor.

Having a roof kinda completely defeats the point of it being an outdoor game. At that point it becomes painfully obvious that the only point of it is that you can sell more tickets

Yup, Rogers Centre you probably get almost twice as many people than you can at BMO field.

I predict Rogers is forcing issue and they will go all lengths to make sure Leafs play at Rogers Centre instead of BMO field for money and competition reasons.

Amusing. Ken Campbell reports that Toronto is getting the game (but says nothing about venue). Rogers' house PR sports news/organ site then puts it out as though Campbell said it was Skydome.

Whatever could it mean. (Could just be a kid who has no idea what he is doing making a mistake at theSocre.)

Opening/closing the roof at Skydome in winter isn't possible. I wonder what it would cost to make it possible.

I see no real way a game in the winter at the dome with the room is feasible at all. From about November to the end of April the roof is sealed for winter. That is why regardless of how nice the weather is the roof is never open for about the first month of the Blue Jays season.

Second even if they broke the seal and opened it, the domes drainage system was never made for this and thus it could be an utter disaster. It just simply does not make sense in any way.

Campbell said in another tweet that it'd be held at Rogers centre with the roof open.

Really wonder what that means for BMO.

They may have new translucent panels in the roof to allow sunshine in for the grass......and the roof will certainly be open on far more occasions . Rogers has to find a use for the dump , they can't do anything else with it .
