Default Proof that Soccer is truly invading Canadian Culture?

Sorry if anyone feels that this is in the wrong place, but this really caught my eye this morning....

    HOCKEY: MONTREAL CANADIENS
Gainey gets point across by shaking things up at practice

    SEAN GORDON
    March 21, 2009

BROSSARD, QUE. -- Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson deliciously described it as "squeaky bum time," and with 11 games left to cement their precarious playoff status, it is upon the Montreal Canadiens.
I never thought I'd see the day that a Canadian sportswriter would use a football reference in an article about hockey...and the Montreal Canadians no less.

Full article here if anyone is interested.

    Nice find.

I was getting used to the notion that anti-soccer writers didn't want to legitimize the sport by giving it mention.

there was another article recently in the mass media about how maybe the obsession with hockey wasn't a good thing.. that it keeps us from developing other sports, like soccer. never thought I'd see a mainstream newspaper article like that.
