or NY2 and st. louis, i think they've set up a really good 4-way race for the next round of expansion

Conferance balance is not an issue. MLS will choose new teams based on their interests, and they'll shuffle things to fit.

Houston, Dallas are east enough, etc.
That's all I'll say about that.

ya MLS shifts stuff around every year. Remember that even now we don't have a balanced schedule... and before TFC they had 32 game schedules.

they'll figure something out... given that Garber said he'd like 2 more teams in 2012, that's only 1 season with the imbalance between divisions.

I can't see any more West expansion anyways. All potential future markets are in the East.

Or they ditch the two divisions.

    Or Houston joins the east.

I think they will go for the first option because they will play 34 games if they play home and away.

that interview on ESPN was hilarious... all that "wink wink, nudge nudge" stuff... portland is in.. he just wants to save the official "Portland will be the 18th MLS team" statement for his press conference today.

I guess that vote they had last week was a very certain thing for him to come out and announce it, even though I thought they tok 15 million off the gov deal. Perhaps Garber gave Portland the same $5mil discount Vancouver got, and Paulson came up with the 10 mil. anyone know the details?

I get a gut feeling that since the MLS has gone to a three conference format before - instead of an 8-10 set-up they will go to a 6-6-6 setup with the following:

West: Vancouver, Seattle, Portland, Chivas USA, Los Angeles and San Jose
Central: Colorado, Real Salt Lake, Dallas, Houston, Chicago and Kansas City
East: Toronto, New York, New England, Columbus, DC United and Philadelphia

Don't even begin to ask me how the schedule for this one would be set up!!

    Fuck that:west,central,east.

Make one table league and that's it.
    Keep it simple.

It'll never happen. The three division setup seems more than likely with the teams that are coming in.
TORONTO FC, 2017 MLS CHAMPIONS!!! (Still the greatest in league history!)
