    Carver satisfied with progress
Players are responding well in preseason

Toronto FC coach John Carver is satisfied with the way the team is shaping up as preparations for the new season continue. The team trained at BMO Field on Monday after returning from Sunrise, Florida on Friday. "Compared to this time last year we are miles ahead, but there is still a long way to go. We've got three weeks before the first game of the season and things are coming together quite nicely," said Carver.

So...because David Beckham is leaving, the MLS will soon fold?

"MLS gets gut shot. This isn't just bad news for the league. It's a delayed death sentence. It may take years of decline – there are a lot of very rich people invested in this league right now – but it's a straight line from right now, from this failure, to the funeral."

This guy is a douche bag and I hope there is a day when he will eat his poorly written words.

On-loan Los Angeles Galaxy star David Beckham could stay on at AC Milan until the end of the season on a 'timeshare' agreement, although the Italian club have said no deal has been struck yet.

David Beckham: Loan is up on March 9

The future of the England international is reportedly close to being concluded, but AC Milan chief Adriani Galliani told the club's official website: ''I have read that everything is resolved but that is not the case. The deal is not resolved.
''We are in fact working on the possibility that he remains on loan until June 30 but no agreement has been reached.''
On Monday, Galliani confirmed the club's intention to sign Beckham, but revealed their idea was now to extend his loan until June - after which point he will return to LA Galaxy, and then in January he will join the club for free as he has a clause in his contract which allows him to leave the MLS in November.

Beckham won't play here, so it won't matter to Toronto Becks fans. He won't because:

    (1) England has a friendly
    (2) Fieldturf
    (3) Serioux ("welcome to MLS")
    (4) Harmse ("Break a leg")

LA should insist on a Milan firendly in October. Maybe they can do like the Cosmos did with Pele, Beckham play the first half with the Galaxy and the second half with Milan. Up to that match, they can cash in with a Beckham "farewell tour."

Four players missed the workout on Monday to attend to personal matters. Amado Guevara, Carl Robinson, Adrian Serioux and Pablo Vitti will all return to training on Tuesday. "I decided to let them have today off because it is the only time they will get chance to go home," said Carver. "Pablo and Adrian have both gone home to pick up some of their things. I allowed Carl Robinson to go home to celebrate his baby's first birthday and Amado has gone to see his new baby as well."
You know, that says a lot about Carver. While training, playing and winning is important, he realizes that there are more important things in life- like Family. It shows what a classy guy he is, and he has gained even more of my respect.

News on a former (unmissed) TFC-er:

Yeovil Town winger Andy Welsh has been racking up the assists in the last few months – now he wants to grab a goal too.
The former Sunderland wide man took time to find match-fitness and form after missing pre-season when he was without a club.
But now Welsh is a regular in the Glovers' side on the left flank and his set pieces have become a key component of Yeovil's attacking play.
But he is yet to score in any of his 27 appearances in the green and white.
"As goalscorers you are judged on how many goals you score and as wide men you are judged on how many you create," he said.

"I have got to look forward to Saturday and try to get myself an assist and a goal.
"I do feel I need to start getting a bit closer on the goal count.
    http://www.thisisbristol.co.uk/wdp/s...l/article.html

Andy can't even score in League 1.

Barca Miami gone if Beckham leaves:

Barca-Miami Project Implodes: Claure Blames Beckham

    Written by L.E. Eisenmenger

Marcelo Claure, Bolivian co-investor of the proposed Barca Miami franchise said David Beckham’s possible exit from MLS would terminate Barcelona’s aggressively marketed bid into MLS.
“The economic picture changes if David Beckham does not return to MLS,” Claure told El Deber. “Today, I would say that [Barca Miami] will not happen. Being optimistic, we have a 50% chance to get the franchise.”

    Question Request

I thought that I would post this here. If I don’t get an answer then I will start a new thread to make the request.

Last year sometime, someone posted a link that was a footie news site that acted like a content aggregator for all football news posted on the net. If you set the parameters to MLS, as I did, it would pull content and links from all the online news sites that had MLS in story and present it and refresh every 2 hours.

It was fantastic. I spoke Denime about this at the AGM. He remembers this site but can’t remember the URL. Problem is that my HD crashed a month ago and I lost the URL. I can’t effen find it anywhere.

Does anyone know what I’m talking about? If so, please post the URL.

    Thank you in advance.

You can also set up a google alert to send you links to news stories containing your specifications (i.e MLS, TFC, Cathal Kelly!)

I'm actually glad if Barca-Miami doesn't go through:

    (1) Who needs "fair-weather" friends? We need investors with commitment. There will be ups and downs.

    (2) Miami is a terrible place for pro sports.

    (3) More chance for a Canadian team.

I think Kelly has a serious man-crush on Beckham. He must reference Beckham every third column. Then beats on Becks' wife. Sure, he tries to hide it behind a genetic Irish pre-disposition to hate all things English, but this is skewing toward gay porn.

Interesting, too, that the Star jumps up with a cheap shot at soccer less than a week after Montreal Impact draw more than 55,000 for their concacaf CL game. Mind you, they're constantly griping about something in sports. Not sure why they even bother with a sports section in that paper. Always miserable.

Funny thing about the game of pro soccer in North America. It's cycled through several births, deaths and re-births. Every time, it comes back stronger than before. Now we're seeing soccer-specific stadiums being built for the game. That never happened before.

Yeah really, I mean Barca won't put a team in if Beckham leaves? what? So they were planning on folding the club once he retires?

    Fuck 'em. Re-open Montreal's bid.

Oh, and the SG -- wow, and actual attractive woman. Amazing.
