Default Major League soccer makes inroads in USA

I found this chart in this article quite interesting. I'm mostly surprised that MLS has already surpassed SPL in attendance average. And we really aren't that far from some of the top leagues in the world. I have a feeling Seattle and Philadelphia are going to help in getting the league attendance average up!!!

    MLS crowd count
Average home attendance for each MLS team, its stadium capacity and percentage of capacity:

    Team Att. Cap. POC*
    Toronto 20,045 20,000 100.2
    LA Galaxy 24,923 27,000 89.8
    Colorado 14,602 18,000 81.1
    Chicago 16,015 20,000 80.0
    Dallas 14,403 20,500 70.2
    Salt Lake 17,784 25,562 69.6
    Houston 18,394 32,000 57.5
    Columbus 12,383 22,555 54.9
    New England 10,821 20,000 54.1
    New York 13,745 26,500 51.9
    L.A. Chivas 12,882 27,000 47.7
    D.C. United 18,802 45,596 41.2
    Kansas City 9,209 27,000 34.1
    *percentage of capacity

    Worldwide soccer

Is K.C. not playing in a baseball stadium that has about 10,000 seats.

It is, I get the feeling 27000 was for Arrowhead, but even then it seems wrong.

You mean they averaged 27,000 in Arrowhead, or that is all Arrowhead holds

They might not even bother to open the other decks when a soccer game is on, maybe that number is the highest number they bother with for a regular game (not Beckham).

Along with Arrowhead, I think they are only counting the lower bowl as being opened and taken into consideration. Much like how Jacksonville Jaguars cover sections with tarps so the game will "sell-out" and not be blacked out.

great to see MLS doing well compared with other leagues.

SPL is a weird league as far as attendance goes. You have two clubs with amazing attendance, a few with decent attendance, and then a whole pile of little clubs, some much lower than the lowest MLS attendance.
MLS is a tough, physical league, that emphasizes speed, and features plastic fields, grueling travel, extreme weather, and incompetent refs. - NK Toronto
