And the MLS is trying to establish itself as an American league. Like it or not, that means restricting the number of 'foriegn' players - at least for a while. In order to be successful in the US the...
If we only count the twenty minutes he was really interested in playing here, I'd put Robert on the list.
I don't know, people keep telling me hockey in the USA on some weird cable channel is fine, but I can't see it as good for the sport. It woudn't be good for soccer in Canada, either.
But anyway,...
Makes you wonder why no one else in this city stepped up for a franchise?
Wow, it's almost like someone is trying to build an organization that will last.....
You've never met an agent, have you?
No Amado? Laurent? Marvel?
Don't you think he's got his TFC offer in hand and now he's seeing if he can find anyone closer to home who will match it?
Yes, and especially if the potential is there to make even more money by winning even more.
If TFC win they can play in the CONCACAF Champions League - the further they get, the more money the...
I think you're right.
The Leafs have responded to their fans really well - that may be their biggest problem. Leaf fans love second and third line grinders - good players, sure, but this city...
Well, there's lots of grass grown in Toronto in apartments:

So, is the soccer team the #1 tennant and anything else would be second and third? If that's the case, it's not bad.
The reality in North America is that cities have lots of different sports,...
"... the player’s agent Steven Denos ruling out a move to the MLS,"
I imagine that's pretty much always the agent's first reaction to MLS - something that will change as MLS grows. Still, it's...
Well, if you're going to talk about the longer story it starts waaaaaay earlier. Some historians feel France made a decision to finally, after many wars, sit one out. They lost pretty much an entire...
You're right, I don't see it either. The thing is, the NFL hasn't really sold anywhere outside the US. People keep saying it would work in Mexico or Tokyo - maybe.
But I really think soccer has...
Oh yeah, they've got money - I just don't think they'll spend that much.
I always find all this "NFL coming to Toronto" talk funny - the NFL would be here in a second if someone put up the money....
Okay, for the record, I really like Toronto and I don't think it's a joke of a city. It does have its problems.
But the idea of an NFL team in a city with no interest in high school or college...
Well yeah, lot's of things make me feel old:)
I only said twenty years for the whole country - certainly parts of it will have soccer as a #1 or #2 sport before then.
The thing is, football has maxed out. the NFL tried to sell it to other places in the world and it just isn't working.
But soccer is growing everywhere. Is soccer even more popular in europe now...
I think you're right. And like them or hate them, MLSE is a major player in the sports world and probably won't be easily pushed around.
It's a complicated issue:
"Every athlete in recorded history has used performance-enhancing drugs. Babylonians and Romans used herbs to improve their performance. The ancient Greeks put on shoes...
Does have a DP always work? I'm just curious, does every team have one (or two) and have all the recent winning teams had them?
Does it ever interfere too much with team chemistry?
I guess...
They deliver exactly what the supporters demand. Leaf fans demand a bunch of second and third line grinders and they deliver.
We demand a better team and they've been delivering. We just have to...
It's tough because you need the combination of the owner and the fans. Either one on their own isn't enough.
In year one economics (back in the stone age, I admit) we learned if something isn't...
