Just an educated guess. Romney is prime age for a CB (30), would be a starter for another 2 or 3 years and was made expendable by the Revs bringing in Arreaga from Seattle.

Dave Romney is gonna be the guy, isn't he?
Wouldn't be surprised if nothing is actually announced formally until tomorrow morning. TFC's social team is usually the last to produce information.
This is the perfect time to give guys like Mabika, Mailula, Kosi, Kerr and maybe even a couple kids like Ythallo and Staniland some game time. Have Prince, Bernie, Oso and whoever else ready to go in...
I can see Ayo potentially scoring a goal. League1 Ontario is probably his level currently.
The name most of us concluded was Kervin Arriaga from Minnesota United.
Bogert published a piece today with some names being discussed around MLS.
Some brief notes
- Xavier Arreaga from Seattle and Dave Romney from NER are two players being shopped within MLS.

Got a feeling this player is coming from within MLS. Someone like a Keaton Parks from NYCFC would be ideal for the midfield. Maybe Jackson Yueill is getting sick of being in San Jose?
I assume they made Richie a DP so they could just pay off the 750k transfer fee upfront to get it off the cap instead of paying say 250k for each of the next 3 years, which would likely make Richie...
An outside the box thought on who might go, especially if the player brought in is a forward - DeAndre Kerr.
Having a career year in LA too. Him and Paintsil have developed outstanding chemistry.
My guess is that "core starter" is a midfielder in that Marky Delgado mold.
Richie going down injured 60 minutes after becoming a DP is so TFC.
Let's go, boys! That isn't a game we even get a point from the last 3 years.
That Spalding guy on NE is one of the worst players I have seen in a long time in MLS.
I don't blame them for letting Fede take the penalty, but Prince Owusu is as hot as any striker we have had since Ayo was actually decent.
Mabika should of taken it, IMO.
A penalty? Been years since we had one of those.
JMR will do well in the Championship with Sheffield United in August.
What a finish too.
King Owusu!
Mabika sighting!
Sean Johnson is still him.
That was not the most enjoyable half of football I have ever seen.
Oso dropping back into the midfield is the right move.
