I think the advantage of CFL over NFL is that there are a lot more passing plays and general motion, that don't seem to tear up the ground as much as the NFL-Style running game that we saw tear up...
Why not have a modular turf system you could overlay on top of the existing grass, like they used at Rayo OKC (RIP)?
Waitaminit, weren't we all just extolling the praises of the grounds crew back at the end of 2017, beginning of 2018? Are these the same people who were just fired/quit?
I just found this and thought you guys would like to see how Tottenham Hotspur is dealing with NFL play in their new stadium - a retractable grass field with artificial turf underneath:
...
What they need to do is rip out the grass tomorrow, since the Argo's are going to get 3rd place at best and don't have any more home games, lay the new turf next week, then stitch the grass with...
Just thinking...
TFC's last home game is Oct 28th and the Argos last home game is Oct 20th. Assuming the Argos end up no better than 3rd and TFC misses the playoffs, could MLSE rip up the turf...
I remember discussing this back when there was talk of the Argo timeshare. A strong polymer anchor grass is planted 2cm apart from each other, with the natural grass growing inbetween the anchors....
And the NFL played a game four days before a Euro Qualifier shows that not even Hybrid grass can hold up to pointyball. Both England and Slovenia teams were shocked at the condition of the field.

FYP. g:D
Wow, Kudo's to the grounds crew. That field looks really good for late november.
Agreed. Still an Argos fan, despite what their cleats do to the field. It was a roller-coaster game for me but Lansdowne was really fun with all the teams headquartered in different bars around the...
Cautiously optimistic...
You can see some clumps. But it looks like that picture was taken around mid-morning. Maybe they spent the warm weather today patching things up?
Agreed. I don't think we have to worry anymore since the Argos have played their last game of the season and the grass has time to recover. They showed after the Grey Cup that the logos should come...
But I'm glad for this heat wave, though. It will help the grass rebound faster now and hopefully last longer through October, which will be better for TFC come November.
That does not fill me with confidence...
I haven't heard anything from the BMO Grounds crew after the Argo's game. I'm a little worried that the Argo's tore up the turf and are afraid to tell anybody.
They were ripping up the grass anyways after the Leafs game, weren't they? I guess it's good that it isn't too cold so that they can prep the ground for laying new sod sooner than later.
But that was before the wake-up call that was the Argos this season and the Grey Cup ticketing debacle. They seriously underestimated the damage done to the Argo's brand by the past two ownership...
The papers are hearing rumors that there is no way the Grey Cup will be back in Toronto for at least a decade.
Waitaminnit, would we be having this pitch discussion if TFC had won on Saturday? Shouldn't the pitch have been in worse condition for the Montreal match? Or did the pitch not recover as fast as they...
It rained almost every day from the Grey Cup until last night and the field was still serviceable after 120 minutes of play. I'm feeling pretty good about the groundskeeping now, especially with the...
Well, you can see where the sidelines were for the CFL field, but otherwise - that looks pretty good from a distance.
They replaced all the Turf in all the Stadiums involved in the 2015WWC just prior to the tournament, so the surface should be less than 2 years old. If it's the same stuff they use here in Ottawa, I...
Reading one of the supporter boards, people are... well, not apoplectic, but *very* unhappy with the way this is going down. They're finding out in the media before emails were sent out. Not all the...
